I've got a brother that will be back in the states Nov 10 at the latest. I've been trying to find a good deer hunt for him to put in for that starts after the tenth of Nov in Utah. Any thoughts on which is better and why....the Dolores triangle rifle vs crawford muzz hunt? They both seem to depend on the "SNOW". He only has 4 points so I know it's hard to draw these areas. I would try for one of these first and then just get him an archery permit for the extended area. If anyone has hunted these area's or could possibly tell me about a CWMU that lets you hunt in november can you send me a PM or email: [email protected] and tell me about your hunt. Thanks!

I've hunted the Dolores Triangle. It is truly a crap shoot. Imagine hunting the winter range in August and that is how it can be if it is warm and dry. Even if there has been snow the deer are dispersed and not in great numbers. I did see quite a few bucks in the north end of the unit but access is really a problem with gated roads and private property. We tryed to cross the colorado river in a canoe but a railroad employee( I guess thats who he was) said we were on a no access road and he would call the Sheriff. I shot a decent buck but I'm still wondering if it wasn't a waste of points and money. Three trips during the hunt and several scouting trips added up.

Go to page 3 and about half way down there is a thread about crawford mountains,,might help you a little,,
