If you had a 360+ 5x5 standing next to a 360+ 6x6 which one would you shoot? I'm just curious.

Me...there's just something about the back end of those big 5x5 that is just awesome! I would shoot the 5x5.

It's always an adventure!!!

I'm a junky for the 5x5! i saw one last year that would go 350+ and i'm hoping he survives one more year(til i draw the tag!)

"mmm....mmm, 5x5 pie!"

It would depend on how big the whale tales were on the 6X, if the 5th and 6th on him were nice and long then I would shoot the 6x. If they were on the small side, then the 5x would hit the dirt.

I wouldn't have to think twice, the 5X5 would be on the ground. And if I see one on Dutton during the Muzzy hunt I'll do just that.

For a 5X5 to hit the 350 mark is one long tined bugger. I'd put the hammer down on the big 5.

AWLB, too funny my company filter blocks your site under "Gambling."

What kind of operation are you running ;-)!

I have always liked the looks of a big 5X5. I seen one last year with 22" fourths and fifths that would have made a beautiful mount.

Without question- 5x5 ........... It would be exponentially more rare than a 6x6 of equal score, and more eye appeal. Just the same for mule deer, I'd rather kill a 195" 3x3 than a 195" 4x4.

Jim, i'll shoot you a pix of a giant 360" 5x5 i took with a client a few years back.
We passed on several 6x6 bulls that would score about the same, and even passed on a 7x7 to take this 11 year old 5x5 bull.

I'm sure the 5x5 would have monster whaletails so he would be the one to hit the ground.

Here's my question scoring a big 5X5... Can you actually count the last mass measurment? I honestly don't know how that works. Anyone know?

I think a 6X6. Unless you aren't counting that last mass measurments and then you are really shooting a 390 class bull that is just missing the G5's. And in that case the 5x5.

Send me a picture of that 5x5 also i would like to see it.

Jim
Show me one of those 5x5s with that kinda look and he may be in trouble if the shot is 100 yards or less as i dont like shooting passed that distance, JUST KIDDING..>>>

He was right at the 360 range, it's been about six years ago, can't remember exactly.....my memory is going with age. ;-)

There's something about the character of a big 5 that you just can't beat. I love all the gap from point to point and the big whale tail too!

Give Me 5!

Depends how they get to 360. Given the same mass, width, length of beams I still take the well balanced 6x6.

Me and my bro-in-law drew LE archery tags here in Utah in 2002. He killed a 5X5 that NETS 343 P&Y. Grosses right around 350. It's a neat looking bull!

A 5x5 with that much horn would look so much bigger than a 6x6 of the same total. I think most would nail the 5x5.

It's the same of a 6x6 with the same total inches as a 7x7.

Definately the 5x5, 360 class 6x6's are dime a dozen ;-)

You guys that are saying a big 360 5x5 is bigger that a 360 6x6 are exactly right!

That pix of my bull as a 360 5x5 would dwarf a 360 6x6 as far a frame goes.

We passed on other similar scoring bulls to take that one, this 5x5 made a passed on 7x7 look small.

I would shoot the 360 5x5 in Slam's post, but pass the 360 5x5 in Awholelotta's post. But I will never have another tag so that point is mute.

CS- You do get the mass measurement on a 5x5, taken at the mid point between the sword and the end of the beam. (Same with a mule deer that has no G3 or G4)

Depends on the bull. I'm going with the pretty bull every time. Score doesnt mean a whole lot to me 5x5 5x6 6x6, don't matter, I want the good looking bull over the bull that scores. My uncles 5x6 is right around 360 and he is better looking than my buddys 6x that scored the same last year.

LAST EDITED ON Jul-30-08 AT 08:47PM (MST)[p]I agree score is secondary i am hunting the Wasatch this year and i am hunting a mature bull with the monster look, wide ,
long tines, mass, whaletails and a loud deep bugle want hurt.

Its all about the hunt and the look of the bull ,i will decide which bull to harvest based on a lot of factors .

I will also have a very experienced guide with me that knows what bulls are in the area and has a much better idea than i do
of the potential of the area we will be hunting.

I have looked at pictures of 350 bulls that look better overall to me than some 380 bulls that dont have the same look.

had telling but I dont think I will ever be put in that situation, 2 360" bulls in the same place at the same time, heck the same day, same year would be nice, but if I did get the chance it would be the 5x5 just because he will look alot bigger on the wall, Especally around here a 360 6x6 will have 12-14" whale tails and for a 5x5 to make up 24-28" he would be a real toad.

Lets just put it this way, if its 360 its getting shot we will worry about how many scoreable points he has later.
