I ran into a big 2X1 spike just yesterday. I was hiking and came around a big rock and was face to face with him - about 15 yards away. He paused a second then bolted. I quickly grabbed a cow call from my pocket and hit it and he slammed on the brakes, turned around, and walked right back to me. Youngsters! I slowly pulled out my camera, but the 'ding' of the camera spooked him and he was gone just before I could get some video of him.
