i hunted near sheridan this year with success. saw lots and lots of deer, but no real good ones. just wondering where most people think the best bucks in wyoming are located? there are definitely numbers in the northeast part of the state. also, does anyone know if hunting in the northeast towards the end of the 2 week season would be any better than the first for catching rutting activity? we went around oct.1 and saw only young bucks messing with the does. i had a friend hunt just about an hour north in montana and had all kinds of rutting activity on nov. 1.

I think the west end of the state has better bucks than the east side. More remote high country, good desert country, just screams big deer.

Never hunted muleys but according to Jim Zumbo, the place for monster muleys is SouthWest Wyoming

They are where ever you find them :) Look at B&C records to see what counties produce trophy bucks. A lot of big bucks come from Hoback Canyon/Jackson area and southwest WY from Baggs to Star Valley. I used to live in Sheridan and there are good mulies around the Powder River, but its all private and landowners & G&F don't mess around out there. I would suggust paying to hunt on a ranch between Sheridan and Gillette or buying some horses to get away from the people in the high country. It's sad, but it is becoming a rich man's sport. Sheridan is awsome, there are deer everywhere you go, but its all private land. However, truely big antlers do not come from that area very often.

Wyomingben is right, big bucks are wherever you find them. The best counties according to the record book are lincoln, teton, sublette and carbon. But big bucks come from everywhere. Some of the biggest mule deer I've seen live in desert areas that are not commonly thought of as trophy areas. Big mule deer are found wherever they are allowed to reach 5+ years old, and usually thats not in the most popular hunting areas.

wyoxtec is right, this last year I killed one of my best bucks ever in an area so dry there where hardly any antelope there. I happend to see him the year before and sure enough he was in the same area a year later! Not a tree within miles, I'm not going to tell you where I got him, you wouldn't believe me anyway. All I will say is was not in any of the places mentioned. It takes time to grow big antlers, look to places that may not have a lot of deer, but places where deer can live 5 plus years without getting shot.

the biggest bucks i've seen have been prairie bucks. There just good at hiding in the draws. They send out all those little ones to keep your attention while they just sneek away.

There is not any big bucks in Northeastern Wyo. You'll just be wasting your time out here trying hunt dinks like this one.

thats only 3 of the bigger ones we killed this year... I would look at other regions to hunt for big bucks.

WOW! Nice Bucks!

But I think this fella is looking for Public Land, what does it cost to hunt there?
