Driving to work yesterday just happened to glance over and see a deer with its back legs wrapped up in the fence running along side the freeway. I could see that she still had her head up, but i didn't have any tools or time to stop. When i got to work i phoned the local game biologist since we don't have a warden in this area right now. He said he would go take a look.
Talked to him today and he told me that it was a buck that had shed his horns and he was wrapped up pretty bad, ravens were already sitting on him and he wasn't going to make it much longer. Long story short....he had to cut 4 wires to get him free, once he was free he just kind of laid there for awhile then got up and wondered off. Seemed like he just might make it. So it looks like we may have saved one after all. Gotta feel good about that!

Way to go Nv. One for the good guys.

I like the story about the good some game officials can do. Always nice to hear a + story on MM. Thanks.

Good job. Maybe he'll be that monster buck you bag in a year or two and put on your wall......wouldn't that be ironic?! :)

Way to go nvhunter! Was it near Reno as we are having deer come into town due to the heavy snow cover and loss of habitat?

"Driving to work yesterday just happened to glance over and see a deer with its back legs wrapped up in the fence running along side the freeway."

How was the deer running along the side of the road if his legs were all tangled up?

"Driving to work yesterday just happened to glance over and see a deer with its back legs wrapped up...ok heres the hard part for you..."in the fence running along side the freeway" My mistake....i should have remembered that 'some' people actually cannot decipher a simple sentence. I will remember next time... Leroy...geez!!

For the rest of you guys...thanks for the thanks, and most of the time we are not around or find deer like this in time to help, this was one of the lucky times. And yes i have to give our game biologist 2 thumbs up, he has always been a top notch guy since i have known him, even when he was a warden.
