I have a LE tag this year and me nad the wife are fighting over where the mount is going to go( if i get one) our basement is outdoor theamed with my deer, pheasent, fish, and elk horn mounts but im trying to tell her that a elk head mount wont fit it would go better up stairs with the vaulted celings.

Do you guys have any pic of elk mounts in tight places or not so tight places that would show her the differances

i dont have any pics but up untill a couple of months ago i had two mounts a shoulder and a euopean mount in a 12 wide trailer house. the shoulder mount sat about 18" off the ground and was withen 6" from the cealing. he was a 342 bull. the euro mount nose bones where 6" off the back of the couch and 2" from the cealing. that one is a 326 bull. now i just bought a house with raised cealings in it so now i have room. before you would feel like he was a buddy sitting on the couch waching the tube with you. not only did i have these in that house i had 4 deer antler mounts also.

Pred those are some great looking trophys. how far dose the elk stick out frome the wall? Its not as bad as I thought it would be. what did he score? Thank for the pics they look great!!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-08-08 AT 10:49PM (MST)[p]Thanks Guys....he does stick out quite a bit from the wall, I'm not sure exactly how much. This will give you a little bit of an idea:

We used that particular pose to try to conserve space, I've seen another on a pedestal where the bull is looking almost straight down.

I think either way if you shoot a bull with plus 40 inch main beams, you are going to have to deal with that either from a corner or backwall.

He scores right around 310....but as you can see, he has tons of mass.

Turk, you are just wondering where you are going to put one of those 360 bulls 'running all over the place'. I know!! Has your lovely bride agreed to a big ole' stinky in the house?? What will the dogs think? :)

You might want to kill one first? Just a thought?

I have 9' ceilings. One wall and one pedestal, they fit and look good, but 8' would be pushing it? The pedestal is about 33" and the wall is probably that off the floor as well. You can do the math from there.........

btw; they are both 350++

Predator did a good job with the mount selection to reduce the overall height. The semi-sneak position bugling with the antlers laid back really reduces the height. From the photo it appears that one may not be more than 4 1/2 ft.

I have one in semi-sneak but not bugling that is 5 ft- 4 inches. Traditional up right mounts can be over 6 feet.

That's a great bull and it really looks good.

Let's see if I can remember how to post a picture. Here's a good bull in an upright mount in a room with a 10' flat ceiling. The tallest antler point is 2" from the ceiling, and his chin is 63" from the floor. Oh yeah, there's a nice muley there, too!

EdleBrock,
Yeah, I've got all my mounts in a 12 x 12 office in my home. Any time I add a new one I wind up having to reposition about 6 others to make it fit. I'm of the opinion that a darker paint color brings out colors in mounts. I previously had white walls, but I'm sold on darker colors now for a trophy room.

Here is my elk that migrated from the garage to the vastness of the vaulted ceilings in the living room. I am still married.

AZBOB,

That buck is scary! Yikes! As in scary big!

I love the sage walls. That is what I have. Thought the family room looked like a Army tent for a bit, but I love it now. My paint has a sandy texture? Makes the mounts look great.

Good, there is no flowery crap either in your pics.;-) Nothing worse than floral wallpaper with a big buck stuck on it. I have seen that more than once on here!;-)......then there were the dead deer pics on the kitchen floor in the photo gallery! Ha!

love the goat ,what did that cost? that middle antelope is awesome would love to see a closer pic.
