unit 53 in CO

I am new to the site and am glad to see how much help and info is out there. Hopefully I can can also bring something to the table that may be useful to someone. I have an opportunity to to get a landowner tag for unit 53 Nov 5-11 in Colorado. I am looking for any info regarding public land access (is there much?)and what is the range of buck quality to expect. Not looking for any secrets I just do not know much about the area and those dates may conflict with another hunt.

Sorry I dont know anything about the area BUT if it is a landowner permit I think you have to stay on the private lands. You may check with the DOW to be sure. Hope this helps. Jovan

STEVE, BEEN THERE TWICE/98&01. ACCESS CAN BE INTERESTING DEPENDING ON YOUR AREA. NOT A GREAT ELK AREA, WE DID OK ON DEER. THE DEER WERE NOT HUGE, 22-25 WIDE. THIS AREA IS ALWAYS WEATHER DEPENDANT FOR US. IT NOW TAKES AT LEAST 3 POINTS IN THE 3RD SEASON TO DRAW FOR A NR HUNTER. TRY NOT TO SPEND A LOT OF CASH FOR A 3RD SEASON DEER TAG HERE, IF YOUR TALKING LO TAG. IF YOU HAVE 3 OR MORE POINTS TRY FOR A BETTER UNIT. HOPE THIS HELPS..... YD.
