Looking for help locating elk on the Nebo unit, I have a any bull tag for the early rifle hunt. I have been scouting for a couple of week ends and will be out week ends untill season opens. Courious about the herd on the north San Pitch mountains. Archery hunters keep an eye out for me. Thanks any help is appreciated.

Look into the deep cool canyons, whwetther you are on the San Pitch or the Nebo. You will have a very tough time finding bulls over 320. there are a few but they are scarce. the unit has been over hunted for the last several years for both bulls and antlerless elk. You might try down into Nebo Creek and Black Canyon. Definitely find out where the cattle have been and avoid those areas like the plague. There still may be a good bull or two near salamander pond and the top of Mona Pole. Its just hard to say. the more traditional hot areas have gone down hill in regards to both numbers and size of good bulls. Good luck to you, if I see or hear of any specific spots I'll let you know on this forum.

nebo 1200, there are a lot of cattle on this unit, as opposed to sheep on the manti. I have been looking in the Nebo creek area, most elk seem to be on the private property. Keep in touch and I will let you know what I find. How long has it been since fire burned the pole canyon area? The new vegitation does not look like very good elk forage at this point. thanks RNR

I have a muzzle loader tag, but I have been spending alot of time in the hills. I think there are some decent bulls to be had for those who do their homework. I have seen a few bulls that will go 330+ but that is where I will be pulling the trigger. From what I have been seeing so far

hunting with a muzzle loader is great fun, hope you do well sounds like you have been out and seeing a few, that is good.Any idea how many tags for archery, rifle, muzzle loader, were issued this year?

I am new at this is a private message an e-mail?
