Hey Guys,

I am looking for an elk hunt and I don't want to shoot a rag horn. Now, I know that the outfitters can not grow horns. I am a guide and outfitter myself so I understand that but I want the best opportunity to get a bull over 300. I have shot 15 or more rag horn bulls and I am not shooting another. I want one on my wall. I would love to get a 350 plus bull but I am being real about it. if I got a 301 I would be the happiest one in camp. Does any of you have a recommendation of an outfitter that is not a high fence hunt. I want a fair chase hunt. I have found elk hunts that look alright from $3500-5000. I don;t think I need to pay more then that. If you can help me you can email me at: [email protected] or give me a call at 1-877-347-4662. I have been looking a lot at New Mexico. It seems like that is the place to be able to get a tag and chance at a good bull. Thanks God Bless and see you in the outdoors,

You can do a NM LO tag yourself for that.

Good units in NM are running 4K + license. Probably another $500 next year.

I got tired of hunting in OR a cpl years ago and hunt in NM now.
My suggestion would be to go with a unit that is 3 weeks long and hunt the whole time. Going to take you a week or so to get them figured out then a few days to kill one. They don't act like eastern Or. elk.

It's not a gimme but think "Wenaha" for 3 weeks.
