Just got back from a week on the Books. To say I'm a little nervous would be an understatement now. I was out from before sunrise and coming back to camp in the dark everyday. Covered ground from almost Willow Creek to Colorado. Don't get me wrong, I saw bulls everyday and elk almost everywhere I went. Just nothing worth a tag I've waited for and dreamed of this long. Nothing bigger than a few 5's and one of them had already broken off his entire right side in velvet! Someone please just reassure me and tell me things will be better in September. I'd love to hear other's past experiences of archery elk up there. I'll be up there the entire last week giving it hell.

THEM BIGGER STINKY'S WILL PULL IN!!!

THIS IS MY NEW GUN,YOU MAY NOT LIKE IT,YOU'LL LIKE IT A HELL OF A LOT LESS WHEN IT HITS ITS DESTINATION!!!

THE ONLY bobcat THAT KNOWS ALOT OF YOU HAVE HAD THIS IMAGE IN YOUR PEA BRAIN BUT DUE TO POOR SHOOTING TACTICS I'M STILL KICKIN!!!

When a dream tag is on the line it can mess with your mind a little bit. You keep hitting it hard and stay focused and luck will improve later into Sept.

Keep the faith! The bigger bulls will start dropping by the cows and they will take over the herds when it is due time! Good luck and hunt hard! You will be rewarded!

I seen a 350 to 360 bull last weekend down there. Also 4 other 6 points together. Im not hunting elk though.

"MuddyBoots" There is a truck that I see a lot with that on the side. I think it's a country group or something?? Is that you??

Sorry for the hijack ... just wondering?

No need to panick muddyboots, you'll be changing your name to "bloodyboots" when it's all said and done.

Not too many people see what they want this early, the big dawgs aren't out in this heat like this too much.
They are there, just holed up.
I was there last year during the muzzy deer and saw some bulls that got my blood boiling, and i have been around a LOT of big bulls in my days!

I'll PM you a little info.

Got the same tag Muddy but I can't get out until the end of this month.

These guys are correct when they say the big bulls are in there, just have to wait them out.

Hey thanks guys. Your my hunting Zanex. I feel a little better now.

I about wore out my binocs and boots over the week. Talk about country where a good set of binos are priceless, thats it. I went down a few weeks ago with the elk exhibiting similar behavior but I expected things to be a little different by now.

BTW, no I don't play in a country band or have it on my truck. I couldn't be any further from it. The names a long story but lets just say its not because I have some mud on my Justins.

Go back over Labor Day weekend, it will be a different story. If you are seeing cows, the bulls will find them.

I went through the same thing on the Dutton. I hardly saw elk at first, now I am seeing them consistently. Just watch the cows the big ones will show up.
