Just wondering what your seeing? How's it going? Most important are you saving a bull for my late hunt?

I'd tell you what I've been seeing but since it all came from my trail camera I'm sure you're not interested. Maybe we should outlaw computers at the same time as trail cams. It's just not fair to get information about hunting electronically if ya know what I mean.

Yep...you've got some serious balls asking a question for help after the other post you wrote! Maybe you should get off your (as you put it) "lazy" arse and go check it out for yourself. Whatever you do, don't use electronics to aide in your quest for a big bull.

It's always an adventure!!!

"No it is not scouting! Scouting means that you are there, even with big spotting scopes, you are there!"

Classic...... Terry

LAST EDITED ON Aug-25-08 AT 01:31PM (MST)[p]Didn't you just say "with the trail cams, and even with guides,I say use what you want to scout, but you should have to be their at least. " in your last post? SO WHY ARE YOU ASKING FOR INFORMATION WHEN YOU SHOULD BE THERE DOING ALL THE RESEARCH FOR YOURSELF?

Wow, where's the line for hypocrosy drawn!!

I bet i know what hossblur's going to ask from Santa Claus this year.

LMAO!!!!!! }>

Do you see berry, do you see? This guy is what I would refer to as the general public. This is just one more classic case of dumb s*it!

LAST EDITED ON Aug-25-08 AT 09:49PM (MST)[p]I've spent at least 2000.00 in gas and hundreds of hours after work and on weekends SCOUTING the Manti unit. I have 9 full video tapes of bulls, and yes many, many, many trail cam pics. I have the Manti archery big bull tag, and so far, let me tell you that just because I have trail cams out, doesn't mean I'm going to harvest "the big one". Yes some of them on my trail cams are great bulls, but if they come in to my set up at night like they have been, camera or no camera I won't be able to shoot them. At least I'll have some great pictures and memories of the hunt. P.S. I did have to "SCOUT" the area first to figure out where I wanted to put them. Not to be too rude, but I really hope that there will be one less bull for you to hunt by the time your hunt gets here.

man i just got done really feeling bad about the ripping I just got, no, wait, it was just gas. I didn't ask for specifics, didn't even ask about drainages. Asked about conditions, the shape of the herds your seeing are, etc. See it is August and the late hunt is in Nov. (you know 2 1/2 months from now) so, and I hope I'm not going to fast for you, but you could tell me within 2 inches where their is bull, and he won't be their then, so specifics are kind of meaningless right now. For those that don't know, the manti unit is one of the largest, and I believe has the most LE tags. I'll be somewhere between 6-mile and Ephraim, mostly depending on weather in Nov. Feel free to come protest me! Check the other posts from guys about the Manti unit, notice my name pops up, along with more specific info on what I know and what I see. Oh no you hope there will be one less bull for me, oh no I'm not the most popular guy in here, oh the dispair!! No worries though, I'll post after my hunt is over, either with pictures and a story, or with a "man I had fun but" story. Oh and my story will include specifics, such as where, I don't have a GPS but i will get close, and how. See, I hunt public land, no guide, so the odds that I have some super secret spot, or know about some critter that no one else has ever seen aren't great, so what is the point in acting like its some secret or that I am the man (you know any of those guys)? Wanna know what I've seen, ask I'll tell ya. Yeah I take pride in that what I know and have seen i saw with my own two eyes, if you don't or like the trailcams, more power to you! Don't like my opinions, don't read em, seems simple. If no one answers my question I just might surrender my tag cuz god only knows if you all don't help me I'll never even find the door handle on the truck! Those of you that have your archery tags down there I hope the weather breaks and you get some chances, oh wait, if you take good vibes from me is that like selling your soul to the devil? Hope I didn't screw all of you!

Hey curious, and I'm sure you'll be perfectly honest. If someone pays you $4500 to take them hunting on public land, are they a little lazy? Do you really consider these guys your equals as hunters, or are they just "shooters" or "triggers"? I mean I get it if you have private ground, but public land? And how, because Elk Ridge is a way from Manti, would you know about elk here or anywhere for that reason? I figure for $4500 a guy could pay off a lot of high school kids, and take bottles to the sheep herders to gain knowledge the same as a guide, so what do you consider a guy that pays you to do it. How big are your balls, tell the truth what do you REALLY think about these guys, educate us!

Difference between me and you is, I hope you arrow a good one, tell us all about it, maybe even include the pics(i know I'll close my eyes cuz i'm anti camera). What you think of me or my opinions doesn't affect me to that level, it's just interesting to hear what people think. I'd be glad to share info with you, but you probably already have you plan, and the late hunt is in Nov. so what you know might not apply to me. That's how I roll, If you took offense at my comments, I guess I'm sorry? but why would you? Read what I said, it was meant to discuss when human skill ends and technology takes over. The trail cam was where I chose to start, if you have a better place lets talk! Hope the 100 degree crap ends so you all have better conditions. Hope the crowds thin out, but I don't think thats happening!

HOTT dam if i didnt know any better id say you were our english major, crime fightin scientist, BHWAR! Sure sounds like BHWAR but it couldn be you are talkin bout utard hunting, and that would never happen with IT. Save us your explantions just say i screwed up stuck my foot in mouth and crapped it out.

At the risk of turning this butt reaming into a discussion.

We have two LE Archery hunters in our group this year. They have had mixed success. Most encounters have come near water, but they are inconsistant. Bulls have been quiet and weather has been hot. As of last weekend the bulls were still bunched up, but starting to call a little.

We are finding losts of elk. One cow taken and several spikes have been seen. We are hoping as we get into september that things will pick up a bit. Small small cold front moving in on sunday, so we will see what happens. We will be hunting the whole last week for the LE tag holders. Should be fun either way.
I just want to be friends.

Oh what do you know.. You hunt with a decoy named Molly for hells sake. hehehehe just razing you Ryan.. See you this weekend..

Trail Cams ROCK!!!!!

Keep at it Carbon nation,

I hunted manti archery about 4 seasons ago. You will be amazed at how it improves and the rut builds as the days go on. Stick with the cows, when the bulls get hot, get after them! Until then, hunt hard and shoot straight! Hopefully your friends with the 2 tags will tag out before long!

Good luck,

Chad

Hey carbonnation, thanks, I just got through crying so it cheered me up to see your reply. The bulls together was what I saw, but that was the weekend before the bow hunt. My hunt is late so everything will be different, so i am trying to stay out of the trees until the muzz. deer hunt so you guys don't have some dude touring through your hunt. THe calves seems fat and happy, which I worried about after kind of a long rough winter last year. We had a pretty good snow starting in Sept.. Water didn't seem to be an issue, most of the springs i know of had good flow so I would bet sticking to the cows rather than water holes would be a better bet, just my .02
