??? on Mass measurement

On a 5 point bull do you get 3 mass measurments, or 4???

Cause you alway take the smallest measurements between the points right!!

But I've also heard that you just try to guess were the G5's should be and take the smallest measurment between this area.

All antlered species will get 4 circumference measurements regardless of how many points. If it's a 5-point bull (missing G-5), it will be taken at the half-way point from where G-4 intersects the main-beam and the tip of the main beam.

ABSOLUTELY you get all 4 H measurments on a 5x5.

a big fat +1 for BOHNTR )))-----------> :)

Thanks guys, but when manny15 posts the score sheet it brings up the same question that always gets asked!

If you can't fill in G-5, cause you already used that one up on the line item: F

THEN

If I read line item: H-4,,,,,, I couldn't get a mass measurement on what thats saying! cause there is no smallest point between 4th and 5th. So then the smallest point would be the tip of the main beam right? And that would be the smallest point RIGHT??

I may need some more evidence cause going off the offical sheet it can't be done.

so am I...... line F. is the main beam....not a point....if there isn't a fifth point leave g.5 blank then read post #1 till it sinks in. Seriously.

THANKS FOR THE INFO GUYS AND I HOPE THE B&C WILL COME OUT WITH SOMETHING A LITTLE MORE CLEARER SOMEDAY DOWN THE ROAD FOR A 5X5. BUT I WILL DO A 4TH MASS MEASUREMENT FROM HERE ON OUT!!

THANKS AGAIN

Do elk and deer always get four circumference measurements?
Yes. In the case of an 8-point whitetail, the G-4 is missing. Instead of looking for the smallest location between the G-3 and the G-4, the measurement is taken at the halfway point between the G-3 and the tip of the main beam. Similarly, on a mule deer with no G-3, the H-3 circumference measurement would be taken at a point halfway between where the G-2 measurement begins and the end of the G-2. For deer and elk, no matter how many normal points it has, four circumference measurements will always be taken per side.

You mean like a "scoring for dummies" book? That's an idea.

H-1-2-3-4. Circumferences. Circumferences are taken at the smallest place between corresponding normal
points, as illustrated. If G-5 is missing, take H-4 halfway between the center of G-4 and beam tip. Circumference
measurements must be taken with a steel tape (a cable cannot be used for these measurements).
