Hello:

We are headed out to the diamond creek area in the next few weeks to do a bivy hunt in the caribou national forest. I am still trying to narrow down where to start. I am looking at the four road less areas in the region: Draney Peak, Stump Peak, Davis City, and Black Mountain area. Could anyone give me an idea of the health of the herds in any of these areas? Don't need a trophy just want to have a good hunt and see elk. We will shoot a cow if comes down to just taking home some tasty meat. This is my first archery hunt in the mountains, so just the experience will be great.

Will trade info about any kind of hunting in Nebraska. Waterfowl, deer, turkey, pheasant, quail, and bass fishing ect...

Corn,
I think you are on the right path, most of the areas mentioned hold decent amounts of elk.I would also not rule out the Jacknife area in 66a.Some others worth mentioning would be: Bear Creek, it's the trailhead to Tincup Mtn.on the backside is Hubler canyon, holds good elk. Thick country.also try Corral Creek just east of Bear Crk.Hope this helps.

Shawn,

Thank you for your reply. It help plenty, atleast tells me we are look at some of the right spots on the spot. You ever want to shoot some of these fat corn fed deer, shoot me a message. I will post the results of what we found, once we get back.

Stump Peak, is a great choice, holds alot of elk, but there is a 4 wheeler trail, to the mountain, so not all the way roadless., good luck scott
