Spidey IS dead. I found him this morning in the bottom of the cutt with 1 wound to his guts. I am going to retrieve his antlers during
the winter. Too bad Doyle. A day late and a dollar short. LMFAO!

I just got off the phone earlier tonight with an acquiantance who just spent the entire season up until a couple days ago on the mountain helping one of those guides as a volunteer trying to find our friend the elk. I heard some wild tales about what is going ono up there, but I'll wait to post some of the stuff he told me until after we meet for lunch tomorrow. Suffice it to say that there are some real shenanigans going on between the different groups, in an effort to find our celebrity before the other guys do. Kinda amusing, from my perspective.

On a good note, he told me that he saw a bunch of very nice bulls, including a 5x5 that should gross over 350. I'm going to take my maps over to him tomorrow and get whatever information I can so that I can have a nice hunt, sans our arachnid buddy. He did tell me that there are more than 60 different people working for outfitters that are looking for that bull, and as far as they know, nobody has seen him since the season opened on the 16th. That's saying something, since there are reportedly dozens and dozens of trail cams set out strategically and many eyes looking everywhere for him.

I guess he isn't quite so tame after all.......

LAST EDITED ON Aug-28-08 AT 11:40PM (MST)[p]He went to Las Vegas to see some shows and some girls. The reason you have not heard anything is because what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas.

He flew to Las Vegas after he started to graze on some pot plants grown by the local Utah dope growers.

My guess is he was also shot and is stinking up some cedar tree.

With that many people after him they would have seen him by now if he was alive

Archery is a year round commitment!!

Kinda sad that there are that many guys looking period. I'm a little late to the whole spider phenomenom so tell me where did he come from? I haven't been able to find pics of him from the last few years, did the alien mother ship drop him off this year? Seriously though, a bull that big, someone must of been watching him the last few years.

From all the people I've talked to getting ready for my hunt, I'm quite sure in my own mind that he's still alive. My bet is he's moved a long way, and is living in some nasty canyon beyond where people are looking for him. I sorta hope he makes it through all the seasons, that would be cool.

Maybe they already cut his velvet antlers off and sold 'em to the chinese guys.......and he has been shipped back to the gamefarm........ha

If there are truly 60+ guides out looking, basically 24/7 and they have not spotted him since the season opened, my hunch is that ole' spidey already rode the spirit horse. He was probably dead well before season opened. That's a lot of eyes, including trail cams, to not get a glimpse. I hope he's still alive. Its kinda like pulling for for the Bandit in Smokey & the Bandit. Cops everywhere, but he always knows just what backcountry road to turn off on, at just the right time. Watch ole' Spidey Run...

I heard that Elvis was pretty drunk... Did you hear the same?

He is in a chest freezer in Georgia. The same people who found Big Foot has him...

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

I'm a little hard of hearing, so when my buddy told me last night how many scouts the outfitters had out there, I thought he said one outfitter had 50, but what he actually said was 'One outfitter had 17 people looking for that bull, and the other one had 15 guys looking for him.' I thought that 15 was 50, so my earlier comment was way off on numbers.

I had a good visit with my buddy today, and he had lots of good things to say about the hunt, sounds like we'll hit it about right when we get there this weekend. And, he again said that nobody has seen spidey at all since the season opeened, even on trail cams. He also said there is a ton of big country up there where our friend could be living, and most everyone is looking for him in one general area. Spidey lives, it seems.

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

Sorry CAelknuts I would wish you luck, but your from Calli. Wouldn't be right for you to kill Utahs dream bull. It's gotta be a local to do the killing.......and not a celebrity local if you know what I mean.

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

Ive decided the aliens took him back. With a rack like that I think they were using him as an antenna in disguise. But it got to the point they were going to be discovered so they took him back home.

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

32 guides looking for one bull? Thats not hunting at all , I don't give a damnn what anybody thinks, thats just plain asss stupid, guides my buttt , thats stalking.....I hope either the bull makes it through the season or some regular joe who drew the tag comes along and gets lucky and stumbles on him....

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

Ink, thanks! I really appreciate the nice sentiment and well wishes. Thanks for sending your best.

??? So, by that reasoning Utah hunters shouldn't be able, wouldn't be right, to kill a super monster bull or buck in AZ, NM, Colo, Nv, or anywhere else i suppose? ...or is this feeling just a one way thing?

CAelknuts, you paid your dues, you paid your fees. Be nice if you ran across that big ol boy and let the air outa him! Good luck!

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

What I think really happened is that on the night before the opener they rattled the old grain bucket and loaded him back up in the same cattle truck they brought him in and took him back to the Elk farm.

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

Nobody's seen him?????? Do you really think with all this ridiculous hype that one guide is going to make it public that he spotted Spidey? I have my doubts.
One thing I do know is that this is pretty fun to watch from two states away. I am glad things aren't like that here (yet). The cool drawing on the other post sums up the situation pretty well. Good luck to all.
My vote is that a random young hunter stumbles into him, makes a lucky shot, becomes famous to his family and friends, and makes a bunch of memories that he can share with his grandkids. That is what hunting is about.

P.S. I mean no ill will to the workers earning a paycheck. Do your thing and good luck to you too.

RE: I STAND CORRECTED

Oh come on CAelknuts, can't you read the sarcasm in my post. I'm just kidding. I don't particularly like the State of California on a political level but I've read your posts and you seem like a nice guy. Of course your welcome to come to our State and take a shot at killing the Dream Bull. Don't get too worked up over my comments. Sorry, I know the written word doesn't always translate as well as the spoken word because all of the voice inflections get left out. Good Luck to all you guys who have permits.

FYI, to my knowledge, CAelknuts is not on a high dollar hunt. I simply ment that he has waited for years and years to draw this tag and that he has paid for his non resident license and tag. Why not wish him well and good luck?

Why try to make something of nothing?

Joey

MY network tells me that Spidey is dead. Browtine can you confirm? Come in Browtine and give us the news. God I hope the bull didn't come off some game ranch.

>I heard Ol Spidey took the
>Mexican Blackbird down to Old
>Mexico.

Is that even a real trail or did you make that up? ;-) LOL good flick!

Hell it doesnt even exist. i just made it up. one of the best movies ever. by the way, hows old spidey? did he open up his eating house down in mexico?

LAST EDITED ON Sep-05-08 AT 01:34PM (MST)[p]Unless he died yesterday afternoon or today, Spider bull is doing just fine. I seriously doubt that anyone know of his whereabouts or will find him unless he starts thinking with his other brain and shows himself. What most of you don't realize is that this unit is many, many miles of unbroken timber with tons of deadfall and good grass and water. If that bull wants to stay hidden, he could do so clear up till he sheds his horns.

As for this being a high dollar hunt....I WISH!!!! I'm in the mortgage business, which means I'm in tough financial shape right now. There is nothing high dollar about my hunt, except when I go to town to fill the gas tank up. Other than that, it's instant oatmeal for breakfast, a decent lunch at mid-day and most of the time Cup of Noodles late at night when we get back before we fall into our sleeping bags. Last might, my buddy Nick stayed in camp to scout around here while I went to sit on some wallows we found. He had the coals going when I got back after 9:00 and we had a nice salmon and halibut BBQ with Jason Rappleye, aka Fishlakeelkhunter or FLEH, who drove up from town to visit and see how the hunt was going. Tongiht it's back to Top Ramen and bed right away after.

I wonder if Spidey likes red or green sauce on his enchiladas, Blanco or Anejo tequila and most of all black or refried beans?

Hope you can get a great bull. thanks for taking a little extra time to fill us in!!
