Anyone willing to give some GENERAL information about quality of deer, habitat one would find in this hunt. Not looking for your private honey holes. I know Oregon well and will assist anyone with questions about Oregon. Thanks in advance

66 is a very good unit, but also very large. I suggest you take a look at signing up for the "Colorados Hunt Report" here on MM. It's $24 and has some good info. Also Jeff C aka deerking also has a service called antlerquest that has some awesome information.

It's a big unit and the deer densities are relatively low, but the quality is very good with many mature bucks. If you hunt hard you could end up with a great hunt and beautiful buck. Good luck, Steve

It is a very big unit, and there are some nice deer in that unit. I personally saw a 190-200 inch 5x5 during first elk. I have seen many nice 24-26 inch 4x4. You will just have to put in the scouting time. I live there in the summer, so i get to see them with their guard down somewhat. The success rate is pretty good for those who scout and put the time into it.
Hope this helps,

Latest issue of COLO Outdoors that has the Preference Point Insert shows that it will take 3 points for both Residents and Non-residents this year. Good luck.

As the others have said, big unit with relatively low deer density. LOTS of the unit is in wilderness areas (La Garita, Powderhorn, and Big Blue (that's what they used to call it anyway) with access except by foot or horseback.

A lot depends on weather. If it's warm, most of the bucks will be in the high country wilderness areas.
