466 oregon bull

ob.jpg

Great, now I'm worried I won't get the biggest one of the year.

Wow - thats one heck of a bull for any state but for Oregon - WOW.

Or wait - is that the Spider Bull trying to hide out in Oregon??? Sorry bad joke but they could be related almost??

Holly S***.That is an unbelievable bull. That would be great if it was the biggest of the year. Are we sure this is an Oregon bull? JB

Wonder how many hero's it took to drag that steriod infested high fencer up the ridge for the photo op?

Welcome back JB48

What I have heard is that it is a washinton bull but was taken in the weneha wilderness area which is in both oregon and washington. One of the guys in a picture I saw looked like a guy that guides for Jon Wick.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-04-08 AT 09:46PM (MST)[p]It was a Washington bull... No it was an Oregon bull.... Everyone it was a Oregon bull!!! There is no elk in Washington.

that's the wa 451 bull from last year... killed today sept 4th. the killer was in state for less than 2 days. chartered flight in and out of walla walla. could have been yours for onlyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy 65 thousand dollars! i have packed in to the wenaha 6 or 7 times. 30 miles on horse back and lived out of a wall tent for 2 weeks. some of the greatest times of my life. too bad this killer won't have those memories to take back to whatever state he came from. what a shame.

Well the truth about the 466 oregon bull is that it was killed in Washington less than one mile from a designated graveled road and flown out the same day. I guess that is what hunting has come too! I hope the guides made alot of money off the hunt. Good Luck next year!!!

I just want everybody to know who shed hunts anywhere in Washington that all the RESPECT is gone!!! And all is fair game as far as I am concerned. Have fun next year!

LAST EDITED ON Sep-05-08 AT 00:31AM (MST)[p]Some dude from out of state comes into your back yard and kills a bull that you think is YOURS . . . DAMN capitalists.

>This is no longer hunting. This
>is commercialism!!!

Yeah, if you don't live in a double wide - you just should stay off the mountain.

I'm just glad to see Utah doesn't have the monopoly on high dollar monster bulls!!

That bull is something else...

This is the normal MM response! The guy is a hunter and he has a few chips and decided to go for the Gov. tag. So what! It took him 45mins. and it was probably a great time. On to the next hunt lucky dude.

What a freakin monster toad bull, congaratulations!!!!!!!

I'll comment more when i get my toungue rolled back up off the floor!! :p

Just like i said before MMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i may be wrong but its just to hard to believe that a bull of that caliber came from the N. West and its way to hard to believe that squirrellover has three others over 400 in his hat.

Well was it killed in Washington or Oregon?

As for the tag holder congratulations. Can't we just pay respect to an unbelievable bull, and discuss and argue the politics of the conservations/gov tags in the off season. Just my humble opinion. JB

Berryblaster, you are right. It was a high fence bull that was transplanted. Dont worry it is all cleared up now that he has been killed. He didnt even get a chance to breed. One helicopter dropped him off on the side of that cliff(for the best photo op of course) and then as he was coming out of his tranquilized stuper the other helicopter landed with the hunter. It was all over. I guess we are back to reality. Only 300-350 bulls down there now. All us WA residents apologize for the uproar. Hopefully you all will forgive and forget soon.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-05-08 AT 02:09PM (MST)[p]Its not hard to believe if you know the country and how limited the tags are. I used to hunt that area before it was a limited draw. We saw lots of elk and many good bulls. Give the bulls a chance to get a few more years on them and this is what could happen. I only hope I live long enough to draw an archery tag for this unit. I believe I will draw it in another 22 years.....

It was killed in Oregon. There are no elk in Washington. If there is they are tiny little bulls.

TheHunt, thanks for the clarification.I have had occasion to stumble around the state line there hunting elk, and have seen those tiny elk on the Washington side.JB

Me too... They are tiny. You know how people love to collect minatures of different things.

What a BEAST!!! Wa has produced some great bulls in recent years. Just because they don't pump out the high numbers that other areas do, doesn't mean they can't pump out the odd Giant. Look at BC for an example. We have only had a few ever break the 400 mark, but we do hold the current World's Record. Most big bulls here are lucky to break 330.

I'm not trashing the bull because he's big and beautiful, but there is something wrong with the people's heads in the bottom photo. It may be a weird angle, but it looks like someone stretched the picture UP. And, the other guy's face looks goofy in the other pic too.

OH WOW DO YOU SMELL THAT ? NO ITS NOT BS IS THERE A HINT OF JEALOUSY IN THE AIR? IS IT THE PRICE OF THE TAG, THE OUTFITTER OR THE OUT OF STATER.I HOPE THE STORY IS TRUE AND OH YEAH I WOULD HAVE TO SCARE HIM AWAY IF HE WAS ONLY A MILE FROM THE GRAVEL.HA HA J/K BUT REALLY I WILL SETTLE ON ONE HALF THAT SIZE.

This bull was killed in the Umatilla National Forest in Washington State within a mile of a forest service road. No, it is not a ranched animal. It is illegal to ranch wild animals in this state. We don't have those ranched hunts that tether an animal to a tree for some weak kneed rich guy to shoot. We just have jerks who sell their souls for $$$ and lead these rich guys on a leash to the big elk that they have scouted and kept the animal in check FOR them.

The Governor's Tag helps to provide this state with much needed services for wildlife that we would not otherwise have. The person who buys the tag is getting a coveted trophy tag that any of us would love to be able to a have. I suppose when the guy doesn't go out and actually hunt for the animal like the rest of us have to, we get a bit ticked off, right or wrong. Maybe some changes need to be made to the way the tag(s) are used to prevent the controversy that apparently surrounds this years elk tag. It isn't just that this particular elk was taken; it was the way it was apparently done that has so many up in arms. Unfortunate. When this state went to the point system it made for big bulls but with a wait of 10-12 years between chances to get drawn, you have some angry hunters when this kind of crap comes down.

By the way... anyone who thinks we don't have big bulls here has never spent much time here and should stay where they are anyway. Specialists from other states should be just that... specialists in "other" states!

this is hilarious.
keep it coming. washington state high fence bulls....they're all over out here...?

Oh boy...I can see this one is going to get the full Monster Muleys treatment. One thing's for sure, that's a monster!!! For now I say congrats to the hunter!!!

By the way, how do all you guys know so much about how and where it was killed? And how are there so many conflicting stories already? Hmmmm....sounds like alot of hearsay and rumor to me!!!

That bull is what dreams are made of. I like the post of out of state people not thinking a bull that big could be taken there, It makes me laugh how a some people think they know about all the elk out there. The only thing that could be better about that elk is if he was taken by a diy hunter.

Hell of a bull guys! Congratulations to the hunter!

Look forward to more photos and story.

The 12 year old son of a guy I work with has a muzzy tag and
were going after that bull. They had been talking to
local Game Warden for quite some time about him.
One in a life time draw. No further comment !!!

The shooter lives in Portland and has kill many big bulls, mostly down on the reservation. Good guy with lots of dough that likes to hunt. Congrats!

This is a Washington Bull!!! And the hunter is not from Portland. Please get your facts right before you display your message.
