LAST EDITED ON Sep-04-08 AT 11:34PM (MST)[p]Well i guess i was right, I figured it would be around 460+ and now it is dead. So i guess ChinoChief and Berryblaster can kiss my a**! If you want pictures call Jon Wick and Corey Reynard.

Hey you saps, you guys don't know what it takes to kill a bull over 400 inches so theres no point in even talking to you but for whoever is listening (ChinoChief)-HAHA give me a call, I have 4 different bulls that will break 400 this year, the 466 is just one that has broke this year. Look forward to talking to you.

Hey squirrel lover forgive me for seeming skeptical about a potential world record bull coming from a state that a little less than average when it comes to elk. Also forgive me for wondering if this bull moo's like a cow and eats grain out some dudes hand, oh and please dont hold it against me that you just posted this on here and didnt bother to throw up any pics so pretty much its a 'Ghost'.

There are a few good bulls left in the wenaha tucannon wilderness area.. There is usually a couple of 390+ killed every year. But the tags are harder to draw than a san juan any weapon LE tag and the chances of whacking a 380 plus are low.

This post is one of the reasons why ChinoChief and I really don't post on MM any more.

SquirrelLover- Calling folks out on this site aint going to get you s#!* ......

Bring it down a notch buddy! Trust me your barkin up the wrong tree.

Anyhow good luck with all of your other 400 inchers that you have seen or scouted.

Since you figured this one was around 460 maybe back off about 20 inches and then you will be close. The bull was 444 gross and will net around 435.

WA State has two vastly different climates; the west side of the state is wet and temperate, the east side of the state is dry and much less wooded and much colder in the winter. Roosevelt Elk are on the west side of the state and Rocky Mt. Elk are on the east side of the state. It is too bad there has to be such snipping and snapping from people who apparently don't know what they are talking about. A 'specialist' from what state? Obviously you don't know anything about Oregon and Washington. But then you only need to know what is necessary in your state for your job and most of us don't know what is going on in any state but our own unless we plan on hunting in one or more of them.
It will be interesting to see what the official score finally is. Having seen the sheds for several years in the past, this elk was definitely big.

Blue i understand the different breeds but to have bulls of the this quality it takes management genetics, and time. Washington isnt known for its elk, and to suddenly produce a bull of this caliber is surprising to say the least. It doesnt take a "specialist" as you call it to understand elk, and what makes them big. Whats really surprising is to have squirrel lover say he is sittin on four other bulls that are 400+. If he is then Washington just became the new king of elk.

squirrel needs to shut his furry face so no one else comes here and kills these elk we don't have. ;-) Suits me just fine.
I guess what I didn't get across was the fact that the point system has kept the bulls from being killed for so many years that our bulls have been able to grow. When the number of tags is so limited and the success rate is less than 70% you will end up will 400+ bulls after a few years. What makes you think the genetics of the eastern WA elk is lousy? They just needed a chance to repopulate. But that's ok if no one believes it. I've done a little studying of my own and this elk population we have here has a good, solid gene pool. Like I said...suits me just fine if people think we have mutants....

Washington has elk??? Really???? Just kidding...I lived in Nv from 1987 to 1991 and at that time the state wasn't known for big elk either just deer. When I moved back here and would talk to other guys at the bow club they would laugh when I'd tell them about the mammoth bulls of NV. Of course theres no big elk there, back then is was about AZ & NM, atleast with most guys I'd talk with/knew. Now adays, UT and NV are very much the given when monster elk are spoken of. MT,WY have so many elk and very big bulls as well , but it's always UT,NV & AZ that gets the big bull talk. I'd dang sure like a try at a WA & OR bull, but it's pretty danged hard to draw , wonder why????

On another note though , I agree , why come and call out another guy for a pisssing match???? Then you go pisss in the wind with that " I have 4 400 bulls located " statement! No you don't, I don't even know you ,but anybody that truely has 4 world class bulls located on public huntable land isn't going to go on the WWW and recklessly advertise what you have. It just wouldn't happen , you know this and I know this....You go and pound that chest all you want, men with commen sense will see right through your words....

Two of the worst kind of people are thieves and liers , ones steals from any and all and a lier lives a life consumed in lies not knowing what is true in thier own life ....

Washington will not have any more elk as soon as the Native Indians learn of it. They will be over there killing them like they did years ago. That is the number one reason the blues had to go draw only. I am estimating they will be in there this winter taking roughly 100 bulls.

From the 2 pictures I saw. It's huge. I also noticed a Lear jet leave our airport and fly over the valley the day after the elk was shot, rumor it was our gov. tag hunter. Now that's real hunting, fly in, have a guide watching the elk for weeks, lead you to it, you shoot the trophy, fly out!!!!!

The meat was also donated locally I believe... Grand total of around 48 hours spent on the ground...

I would like to know how many of the self proclaimed elk experts on this site have killed a bull over 400 on public land.

No, there are so many experts on here I was wondering how many have taken a bull over 400 them self.

Bear thats exactely the point for some jacka$$ to come on and post that he is sittin on 5, counting the dead gov tag, 400+ bulls is ludacris.

RE: Washington Governor Tag 460 Bull

The elk will be rutting when the 12 yr. old gets to hunt so he should have a good chance of filling his tag with a nice big bull- there really are a few here that even an auction tag would be proud to shoot. ;-)

RE: Washington Governor Tag 460 Bull

Thanks for info. His dad that I work with is aware of the other
bulls in the area.
Thanks again
Paul

RE: Washington Governor Tag 460 Bull

I got the same pictures with the following information.....

New State Record Washington bull Elk
There has been some talk of a huge bull recently taken in the northwest. Some confusion is did it come from Oregon or Washington? This is not a 466 bull from Oregon. This huge bull elk was shot with a rifle in Washington and green scores 449 gross and 436 net non-typical. This elk was taken by Dan Agnew. I emailed Dan to confirm as it seems rumors are already abound about this new potential state record Washington non-typical elk.
The elk was taken on September 3, 2008 in eastern Washington and is a 9 x 10 that green scores 449 gross and 436 net non-typical.
How does this rank in the books?
The current state record is the Jeff Thorpe bull from 2003. Jeff took this elk with his bow and so is the overall state record in addition to archery state record. Jeff?s bull scores 421 7/8 B&C.
The Dan Agnew bull with a green score (if this holds up) of 436 net B&C will not only shatter the state record but be the biggest bull elk from the northwest and also a potential top ten non-typical bull in the world.
Dan Agnew is no stranger to monster record book bulls. He currently has the #7 all-time non-typical bull and the #21 all-time typical bull - both coming from the San Carlos Apache Reservation.

RE: Washington Governor Tag 460 Bull
