Has anybody been seeing any elk in the Gunnison area? Have they started bulging yet. Are they still high or are they moving down? Just wondering getting ready to head up there this weekend. Any insight will help.

I'm leaving in a few minutes to tag along with my brother who has an archery tag. I'll post up what we find after the weekend. It's been in the upper 20s the past two nights. Hopefully the cold weather will get 'em going.

I would be interested to know what you find out. I head up there next weekend.

Saw a lot of elk this weekend, including the biggest bull I've ever seen in these parts. It was a perfect 6x6 with big daggers, I'd guess he was pushing 350". He had 5 cows with him and he was in some nasty stuff above treeline. Bulls are bugling and gathering up cows - we saw 4 different groups, the biggest having 10 cows, 3-4 bulls. All of the elk we saw were up high. Nobody in our group tagged out, but came close a few times.

Hwy waygoner,
It sounds like you had a fun weekend. Are you headed back this weekend? If you don't mind me asking what unit were you hunting in. Were they starting to bulgle yet? I am headed to the Taylor park area tomorrow. I will be back on Saturday and will let you know what happenes. Thanks

I don't know when or if I'll make it out again. We were hunting in GMU 55 in the Taylor Park area. I have a 4th season rifle tag in 54, I need to spend some time doing a little scouting.

Hey waygoner ,
Thanks again! Funny that is where I am going to go chase the elk around in the taylor park area. Well wish me luck and I will let you know how we did.

also what side of tayor park were you guys on? like the union park area or texas creek area, just wondering? Thanks again
