"HELP" I'm computer illiterate, lol. If someone could upload some pics I would really appreciate it. Thanks. Hi guys, I know this isn't the biggest bull on the mountain, but after the huge marijuana bust in my area, some people hunting right on top of my setup, the full moon, the weather, lol, I could go on and on, but when my friend Jeff Thomas hit the call, and this bull screamed at 80 yards just before entering the clearing I was in, I couldn't pass up the opportunity. It was just like you see on T.V. Jeff got about 50 yards behind me, and called and the bull came trotting by me at 25 yards. One cow call from me and the bull stopped broadside offering me a great shot. I wasn't going to shoot, because he was "only" a 5 point, but couldn't stand it. The situation was perfect, and I couldn't be any happier. As mentioned in one of my other posts, I scouted hard for 3 1/2 months, and hunted every day since the opening. I had seen and videoed many larger bulls, but I've got to tell you, this year was tough. The bulls weren't being vocal at all. I think in the next few days they should really start heating up. It looks like the rifle hunt should be excellent. Good luck to all of you with rifle tags, and as always, sometimes it's not the size of the animal, but the thrill and excitement of the hunt, the family and good friends, (Thanks guys for all of the help) and the beauty of Gods great creation. CAelknuts I hope you score on a big one, or any bull that you would be happy with. Your experiences there have been awesome for everyone to share. Thanks.. Hey guys, if anyone could post the pictures for me I would really appreciate it. I just get a script error when trying to upload. Maybe you could help me again Mike. You uploaded the pictures of my son Remington's buck. Thanks, Mark.

Thanks huntzall, I'll get some pics on here if someone more computer literate than myself could post them. lol I had the same problem trying to post my son's pictures of his deer.

Congradulations on a sucessfull hunt. The proof is in the pudding. I would rather have a good 5 point and have a great memory and story to tell then some huge monster I shot just off the road. When you have to work for it what you get it always seems better. Thanks for sharing your story.

Hey stomper!! If you don't zip it I'm gonna give out more than your number!! Maybe an address??? Just trying to help out the business.... Didn't see you offering to help him out.
Btw Mark, the files were HUGE!! You gotta downsize them to about 900KB max and they go fine.

Thanks Cookie I really appreciate you getting the pictures on here. I know they are big files. Sorry. I was just trying to have my nephew tell me how to downsize them when I saw that you got them on. Again, thanks, and sorry if it took time away from you getting ready for your hunt. Good luck. Mark.

oh no.. don't feel sorry for stupid. I found him 3 buls on opening morning. all over 350. I even bedded them, n he told me to quit calling cuz he was tired. then I had him 150 yds from a 320 n he decide he need a smoke...... hense stupid. Were more like bevis n butthead do the woods. anyways thanks for the pics. I have my own oilfield business n work day n night a lot.I love it when guys like u post pics a spill all the beans. makes these long nights n days barable. since he's only a 5x5 send the horns my way. im not proud.

quiver of arrows

not sayin primos doesn't show the truth guys, but start countin those arrows in the quiver. our friend here has a quiver full. that's sweet. I've seen lots of guys on this sight whose quivers don't match the story. you da man.

RE: quiver of arrows

whats up stinky man? LOTs of guys talk about 350plus bulls, lets see some pics of yours and your empty quiver! ;) Who the frick is counting arrows in quivers????

muleyman

RE: quiver of arrows

Looks like a perfect shot to me. nice going! nothin better than a big archrey bull.

Archery is a year round commitment!!

RE: quiver of arrows

woe woe woe little buddy. I just got done watchin a primos video n I count arrows. n they don't show the TRUTH. now lets just keep it civil. I don't bowhunt. I don't have the patience. I have a hard enough time passin anything to have the patience to hunt with a bow. Now, this post isn't about me so I will end there. pm me and I will flood ur inbox with my elk. as for the above bull I honestly like that bull. I kinda have a thing for 5 by's n that ones really good. so what exactly about my post teed you off??????

RE: quiver of arrows

oh I figured it out. our friend here can shoot and u can't.???? I really haven't a clue. hhhmmmph your actually kinda weird.

Hey Mark congradulations. Nice bull!!! I've been keeping up on your hunt and all your scouting before the hunt. Your brother told me about the marijuana bust last weekend just across the canyon from your camp, to bad. Kind of makes it a tuff hunt with the forest crawling with law enforcement, helicopters and bare foot marijuana growers hidding from the cops.

Like you and others have said, it's not the size of the game always, it's the excitment, friends, and the total hunt that makes the memories. You spent the time and money scouting for your hunt. To bad the rut just did not kick in as usual.

Thanks for posting the pictures, your brother did not have any pictures before he left for his Nevada deer hunt and it's nice to see them without waiting for him to return.

Best of luck on the rest of yours and your broters hunts this year!!!

Thanks guys. Yeah Rick it was pretty tough, a guy puts in hundreds of hours and thousands of dollars in gas, and I couldn't have ended with a better hunt the way it all went down. After all of the video, trail cam pics (which didn't help me harvest this bull) and just plain looking at bulls, it was kind of funny how this one happened. QUICK... The whole setup only lasted a minute or less. I turned on the video camera right after Jeff bugled, and it was game on.. Anyway, thanks again, anyone that has bowhunted elk knows how frustrating it can be at times, and I'm happy with what I shot. Mark.

Great archery bull man. Good to hear it all panned out for ya.

Congrats on a very successful hunt. Perfect shot placement and a good supply of the best meat on earth! Tough to beat that!

Markhunts....great job on a good looking bull. Isn't that country fun to hunt! I am glad you got your bull. It was tough finding elk down that way. I wish I could have run into you on the 2nd Tuesday of the hunt. I had a 340-350 type bull (real wide) feeding below me in a basin. It would have been a trick to get on him, however, since he had 29 cows and 1 spike with him. It was sure fun to watch him though.

Just remember any bull is a good bull and yours is way better than that. The excitement and thrill are more thrilling then any score!!

Thanks guys. That would have been nice UTodd. I stuck with my plan for the first two weeks and sat my treestand and groundblind on a wallow. The bulls were coming in every NIGHT. That was my problem. Every night 15 minutes after we would leave the blind, the bulls would smile for the camera. Just couldn't get the big ones to screw up once and come in the daylight. I had opportunities at smaller bulls, but the big ones wouldn't co-operate. By sunday of this week it was time to start pursuing. Got close on a big one that I had videoed earlier scouting, but he had other ideas when we got 100 yards. Then a real nice 5X6 snuck in on us silent and stopped right behind a pine at 50 yards. He never did offer me a shot. It was getting better for sure, and if I would have waited for today or tomorrow who knows. But when this one came in so perfect my heart was racing and like I said, just couldn't hold off. I never have been one with alot of WillPower. lol. I'm boiling the skull even as we speak. Quite a task. Not quite like a deer or an antelope.. He'll look good as a European mount. Good luck to everyone that is still hunting. SHOOT STRAIGHT.

Hey Mark,
Congratulations!
I think you can be proud of that bull, given how tough it is to archery hunt that unit! I work with a guy that hunted hard, and still came home empty on the Manti. He never even got a shot at a decent bull. Deep down, you were probably just saving the big old tough bulls for Bob to kill in November! Right?
Either way, you undoubtedly had a hunt of a lifetime. Way to go!
Kind of like my Wyoming moose hunt you helped me with 13 years ago. The memories are what we make of them.
Way to go!
Rick

Thanks Rick. Yeah, I wanted my big brother to shoot one bigger than me on the late rifle, so I saved him some. He hate's it when I outdo him with bigger animals. LOL.. I'm sure we'll find him one bigger than this, unless they all get shot before that. It's been great fun watching them from the time they first started growing bone until now. The moose hunt was great back then, and I helped get some guys on a beauty up there last week. 46 inches wide with 8 on one side and 9 on the other. (I just gave them the info on the phone, was wishing I could have been there with them, but had my own hunt). And what's with your username? Littlebighorn,, as I recall, your Wyoming bighorn was a stud. lol.. Thanks again, Mark.

Hey Mark,
It sounds like you gave it your all, and had a great experience. That is what it is all about! I am glad to hear you are still helping people fill their Moose tags! You and your brother being up there made my hunt. That brother of yours is pretty competative, but he has also had his share of bust hunts, so hopefully you won't mind him winning this go-round. As far as my username goes, I must have been looking at pictures of Montana sheep when I came up with it, and at the time it seemed like a fitting name for me anyway. My sheep was a stud, especially for the area I was hunting, and I am proud to have him gracing the wall of my home....kind of like your fine archery bull!
I am hoping to perhaps help your brother on his hunt if he needs help, so maybe we will connect in November. Anyway, Congratuations again on the nice archery trophy.

You know me Rick. I really hope we can find Bob a monster. There are a couple here, but I know a couple of guys that are on them for tomorrow mornings rifle hunt. I was sure wishing I had a rifle in my hands a few times during my hunt, but I didn't, and it would have taken me another 10 years to draw one, and by that time I'd hate to see what kind of shape I was in. Not good enough to chase them like I would want to. I've acutally been putting in for the Pahvant archery for years, but by the time I would have drawn that one, I would have been in a rest home. I'll just have to draw a decent tag out of state somewhere. Maybe in my old Wyoming stomping grounds.

Congrats on the nice bull and shot placement, I'm sure you can see from everyone else's posts this was a weird year for the archers. There is nothing on the face of the earth that compares with a bull screaming at you that close. I'm glad you shut him up. -Redbuck
