I am a new member to the site and a college student in Northern Utah. Because of lack of time and money I will be going on my first scouting trip of the year this weekend for my Monroe Muzzleloader Elk that starts in two weeks. Never really thought I would draw this tag as student and only 5 points. I was wondering if any of you had any suggestions on where to look. I
would really like to avoid the circus that surrounds the Spider bull. Is this possible? I would appreciate any advice that I could get.

Thanks

If I were you I would PM Caelknuts, When his hunt is over he may just have a few tid bits of info he may share with you! That muzzy hunt will be a blast! My wife has a muzzy Wasatch elk tag and I am going crazy waiting for it to start! Post pic's when you get your bull!

I had that tag a couple of years ago. Had a blast. Got a 360 bull opening morning. If you want more info you can email me at [email protected]. They should be in the full rut by then and you will have an awesome time.

Yes I am going crazy knowing that i could be scouting. instead of being school!

USUHunter,
I live in Cache Valley but grew up on the Monroe. Just got back from down there and watched some really good bulls. I can give you some info and some areas that should have pretty low pressure on the muzzy hunt. Feel free to give me a call and I can give you some details or mark up a map. 881 5537. Good Luck you should have a great hunt.

Send me a PM this weekend, and I'll share with you where we've found bulls, and some really nice ones, the last 10 days. I've got two days left on the archery hunt, and will be heading back to California on Saturday if I don't tag out tomorrow.

I will Give you a call tomorrow what time would be the best for you?
thank you for your time!

When I was at Texas Tech they had shirts that said "You can always retake a class, but you can never relive a Party" I think the same gos for this hunt:) Good luck and post some pics.

Hey Ag with a Tag- good luck to you on your hunt. You have got some good helpers from this post and should have no trouble finding a whopper. Shoot straight!

USUhunter sent you a pm took a 390+ bull in 2006 had 63 inch main beams should be a great hunt, treat it like a once in a life time hunt. Because that's what it is I waited 13yrs to draw and figure I will not draw a UTAH elk tag ever again.

I am going to treat it as though it is a once in a lifetime hunt i am ready to get a big one!

It went good we went where you said and saw some bulls nothing big but they where there!
thank you for the information! it helped alot!

I talked to my brother and he was in there last night. He said there were some new elk moving in and several 350 plus bulls.

Awesome we are heading down tomorrow at like 12 to do some more scouting! we will look there again thanks for telling me about those spots!

"I never thought I would draw as a student and only had 5 points" Man life is rough, 5 point draw? Man you SUCK!!! Kidding, hope you smack spidey and when you do please drive around and around mossy's camp! WHat could be sweeter than a 5 point draw by a college kid outdoing the chosen one and all the money he spreads around!!
