Elk in the Basin

Hello everyone. I am not wanting anyone's honey holes or anything, but I have been all over on top of Pole Creek, Farm Creek, and up on Mosby Mountain and have only seen sign, but no elk. I don't know if I am not high enough, or if they are just not in the area. I will be hunting the muzzleloader hunt, and there are some guys from Nebraska coming out hoping that I can put them on some elk. All of the spots that I normally find elk in I am not finding them. Any tips or suggestions on where I should be looking would be greatly appreciated. PM me if you want to. Thank you.

I have archery hunted the farm creek area really hard this year, the elk were in there opening day through the week, then they moved low. They all ended up on the indian ground, and red rock. If you can get on some public low areas, that would be my suggestion. We rode the high country on horse back, and never even saw any sign. tons of feed, but no sign. Maybe by the time the muzzy comes around they might move back up a bit when the rut slows down, but as for ur friends from Neb. they are in for a tough tough year!!! Good luck, hunt as close to the red rock property as you can

My only suggestion would be to pick a canyon and walk it. The elk know where the roads are and know to stay away. I have never seen many elk at all off the roads but seems 100-200 yards off the road you start finding them.

I think he is talking about the farm creek above White rocks, not Red Rock. But yes stay off Red Rock, that is my land.
