I don't have a tag, but want my wife to hear the bulls for the first time. We were at the top of Bunchgrass at sunrise, but all we saw were over 100 head of cattle.

Does anybody know where on the Cache I can take my wife so she can hear the elk bugling?

Any help would be much appreciated.

PM me if you'd like.

From what I hear the elk on the Cache have adopted an oath of silence and don't bugle anymore! I ran into a guy who had a North Cache rifle tag last year. He said he hunted every day of the hunt and didn't hear a bugle until the second to the last day of the hunt. He ate tag soup.

You might try riding the Sinks road and listening down into the Meadowville area. I think the elk are a little less spooky in that private area.

Go to hardware ranch, if there is elk on the ranch they bugle. Heard them alot two years ago.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-14-08 AT 07:42PM (MST)[p]I was scouting N. Cache yesterday and the elk were rather vocal and starting to herd up with cows. I'll PM exact details. There were 4 or 5 bulls bugling around me and I could see several bulls up very high that were also bugling. I called in a raghorn to 30 yards and he was screaming his head off at my cow call - at 10:30 in the morning.

go in to the sinks and go to turkey ridge when the road ends walk to hoarse lake the canyon on the left that is real deep and pine covered scream in on him he will answer
