Just got back from a unforgettable opening weekend rifle hunt. My brother killed this bull opening day around 1:30. He shot this bull about 56 yards away in heavy brush and timber. We worked hard for this old boy hiking about 4 miles each way up, down and around the steep terrain. Thanks Jeremy for allowing me to tag along, it was awesome and you deserve it! A huge thanks is needed to be said to Chuck, crew and horses for helping pack it out, without you we would still be up there! I have more story and pictures to share if these work and if anybody wants to see them (first time posting a picture).

Very nice bull. Thanks for sticking with it and getting the pictures posted. That left side is really unique and awesome.

That is a smoker bull! Very nice job! I hope we can get on one like that on my wifes muzzy hunt! Thanks for posting!

ditch,

Your bro has to be juiced over that bull! Nothing like the typicals, but the trash is always nice as well. I would also say his is an no brainer opening day shooter.

ditch,

Have you taped him? It does not matter because he is big! I would like to hear a score because of all the extras. PM me if you want and do not want a score posted?

I get a kick out of seeing gross scores on the bulls with extras. It adds up fast!

Archery IS a year-round commitment, but this big boy was taken at <60 yards with a rifle. Boys did a fine job in that rugged terrain and an AWESOME hog! Great job!!!

Chad,

There are a lot of big boys out there! Best of luck to you and your wife on the up-coming muzzy hunt!!

No kidding ss!

A muzzy tag?? Again???? This year??? Dude, you are on a Wasatch slaughter lately! :) Good luck!

Sorry Ty,

I thought you knew?? She drew with only 6 points! My friends brother and another buddy drew also. I guess I will be helping with 3 tags this year. They all drew seperately. Kind of unexpected but you know ya take them when you draw them!! I just hope to get her on a good bull sooner than later so her spirits will stay high and not look quickly to settle! I told her it was her tag and she could shoot whatever bull she wanted but that if SHE chose too, I would help her "hold off" till we find a big one. Either way she will be hunting elk for the 1st time and should have the hunt of a lifetime!

It looks like I could be hunting the wasatch for a few years as my bro and friend are going to be bonus pool app's next year too! Man, I am as excited as when I had the tag!

Congrats again on a smoker bull!

Ya chad, I saw what happened when she drew the antelope tagafter you did. I hope that she will kill a big one. If for some reason you cant find what you are lookin for ( one bigger than your from last year) give me a ring. Ran into a lady on saturday that killed a nice six pointm, I also saw a giant that evening. Anyway good luck I hope that she can kill a bigger bull than the rest of us. keep me posted

Great bull, tons of character. Seems like wasatch is the only unit putting out any bulls

Lambo,

I will definantely call you if we get in a pinch. If this hunt goes like her speed goat hunt she should get a real dandy bull! Talk to ya later!

Chad

Thanks everyone for the nice words. My brother is still pumped about the bull and will probably write a story behind the hunt so I won't go into any details. We did put a tape on him this evening for kicks. Any guesses on the score, Gross that is?

Regardless of the score, we feel very grateful we have the right and opportunity to hunt in this crazy world. I am grateful I was able to have witnessed this fine animal being harvested. His character is unique for sure. This unit and state is producing some extrodinary trophy class animals of all different species.

Today we spent looking for my dad a bull. He also has a Wasatch tag but it was a different story than a couple days ago. We didn't hear a single bugle all day long. I think the heat has gotten them quiet?

Later,
Jon

Good luck with your dads tag. Make sure your out this weekend, looks like we got another good cool front moving in along with some rain, possible snow in the high country. That ought to get the bulls going again.

Great bull Ditch, fantastic! Congrats to your brother and good luck for your dad. The weather is changing and the bulls will be screaming.

LAST EDITED ON Sep-17-08 AT 08:03PM (MST)[p]This is just a guess, the NT's get me pretty easy, but I will go 380-385 gross?

After another look, he may go higher real easy!

Dude, that is just an awesome bull if he was 280!;-)

RE: stinkys guess

Thanks a nice bull don't care what he scores he a pretty looking bull.

Another great bull off the wasatch. I have seen quite a few strong bulls from the wasatch this year! What a great year for the wasatch! But seriously, everybody should still put in for monroe, pauvant, and san jauns. I don't want my odds to go down. lol.

Nice Bull!!!

That seems pretty rare to see those type of genes on the Wasatch.

Good to know there is some potential.

Where abouts on the Wasatch? Not asking for specific canyon just general area i.e. Strawberry side, Hobble Creek etc.
