"Deer Talk" deer call

Has anyone used the "Deer Talk" call? If so, does it really do what it advertises? It's advertised as being able to call in mule deer bucks and does, at any time of the year. I would like to use it during Colorado's early (September) archery season.

I have used it and it does work. Haven't called in a buck but when I blew the deer stopper among a few herds of does they all came running. (It simulated a fawn in distress call)

I have called them in and spooked them big time. Practice allot on deer prior to the hunt.

Softpoint, I have used this call and called deer in a few times. Its meant to call in the does with the hope that a buck will fallow a doe in heat. Eastmans makes a video called "Talk to the Deer" in which they use this call. Sometimes it works and sometimes it spooks them. One time my buddy and myself called in a group of does with a couple of forkys up to the truck after we had spooked them away. We've also played around with predator calls and just mimicking a human baby crying with our mouth and all have worked at times. Get the video, its worth it. fatrooster.

P.S. If you want to call in bucks you might try a grunt call during the rut.

Ok, but our archery season is in September, well before the rut/ Is there any hope that this "deer Talk" call will work at this time of the year, or is there a better cal to use.

I have seen a few posts about the Deer Talk by E.L.K. and have never seen anyone say that they have called in bucks. I personally have one and have called in does many times. Even sitting inside a car along side a road just messing around. I think the call is very good at the right time of the year. I don't know if there is anything out there to entice a muley buck to come to you if he isn't already headed that way.

Sometimes you can calm a buck down when he thinks he detects danger. Sometimes a buck will come closer out of curiosity when he is wondering where the deer is that is making the calls. On the other hand it will help him pinpoint you. I'm not sure if you'll call a buck to you in September but if he is with does and they respond to the call he just might follow them. Goodluck, fatrooster.

Ive called in a few does with this call. The two times I use this call and have the best results are:

1-To stop a spooked buck. I have jumped a few bucks and by blowing this call, have got them to stop to see where the sound came from.

2-During the middle of the day. I have some success using this when the deer are bedded down and not moving. Ill use the call, and although I havent had luck calling bucks in, it has worked to get them up and moving around. Sometimes it will at least get them to stand up in their beds, to get a better look at what is making the noise. It has helped uncover deer I otherwise might have missed seeing.

Its a good tool to have, but I dont see it calling bucks withing 5 feet of ya! :)

Has anyone had any success using a buck or doe grunt during the early season?

Are there any other companies making quality mule deer calls or is the "Deer Talk" one the best there is right now?

Never called in a Mule Deer but I sure have stopped quite a few with a grunt call for the shot. Has anyone called in Mulies rattling?

I have called in bucks in the early archery season, never anything big, some small 3 and 4 points, and tons of does.
It will also work in the late season. When I lived in Utah
I once jumped a bunch of deer in some thick cedars, and sat
down and started calling. I sat there for about a half an hour
and the deer started filtering back in and there was a very nice
buck with the does. It seems to work well before the does drop the fawns, but in the 2 - 3 week slot when most of the does are fawning it seems to drive them away. After most of the does have dropped it seems to work good again.

NVMDF2,

Are you referring to mule deer you called in? And when you say early season, are you talking early September?

I've used it during the rut and had does come in. Twice there has been a buck behind them but both young ones. The first time I tried the call it sent the deer running so it does take some practice.
