I know that all the snow we have around here is great, but I really miss the high country and can't wait to get back up there.

With my special digital enhancement software, I was able to count 7 bucks over 190 in the above photos!

Not really, but what beautiful country!

Steve

What state are these places in. I wish Oregon had more of these places. Awesome Country

LAST EDITED ON Apr-21-05 AT 11:50PM (MST)[p]Oregonbowhunter, several years ago I went camping with horses in the Eagle Cap Wilderness just South of Joseph. I'll have to say that it would be hard to beat the beauty I found there. If you are not familiar with this area then I suggest checking it out. We were overrun with deer in camp every night. Its an awesome place. And the fishing was pretty dang good.
eelgrass, I set up my swaro spotting scope in front of the computer and glassed that first picture. Did you happen to pick out that 400 class bull on the far ridge at about 11:00? The one with the fly on his right brow tine? fatrooster.

I know this one has a little snow in it but it still gets my blood pumpin'!

BIG buck country!

Thanks for sharing guys, the high country is the BEST, especially the Wyoming High Country, unfortunately I wasn't able to put in this year, but those pics sure brought back the memories, I'll have to settle for some WA high country, will try to post some pics soon.

All of those pictures are awesome. In Sept of 1971 a buddy and I hiked into the high country north of the Snake River( Ferry Peak)aND MADE CAMP JUST BEFORE DARK.At about midnight we were both awakened by a sound which neither of us had ever heard. After about 10 minutes I guessed it might be Elk bugling but had never heard it before. We listened for over an hour when Steve said "Now I know what John Denver means in that new song he has out called Colorado Rocky Mountain High.He was right and every trip out of state I remember that and feel it again.Every one of these pics reminds me of some basin which I have visited, Thanks Louie

Beautiful pics guys. Can't help but thinking thats why I've lived my life in the West. My wife can't get me south of Idaho even in January, up to your butt in snow, but good. Maybe some time I'll get a digital and repay you. Thanks

Nice pics everyone , can't wait for the aspens to start turning color .

WARBIRDUM , looks like you and I hunt the same "hole" . I have the exact same photo as yours . I can even see the ridge I killed a buck on in that photo .

Now everyone wants to see the buck you harvested in this area. Please show us a photo of your deer. I watched a hunter harvest a 190 type buck from this area. I never had a chance at anything that I wanted to take. We made a commitment to not shoot anything unless it was huge and worth backpacking out so we went 0 for 3. We seen plenty of deer just nothing big enough to make it worth backpacking out of this type of country.

Great photos guys! I have already decided that I am going to take lots more photos next fall. Thanks for sharing.
