COLORADO ELK TAG QUESTION

CAN I TURN A ELK TAG BACK IN (TO FISH & GAME) DUE TO ANY SITUATION, OR DOES IT HAVE TO BE FOR INJURY, DEATH OR THE LIKE ?? I REALIZE I LOSE MY POINTS....THATS OK. MY PARTNER CANT GO....& I DONT WANT TO GO ALONE.....THANKS....YD.

Yes you can get a refund before the season starts. Call CO DOW 303 297-1192 and request a license refund application.
You will not get your preferance points back.

I was really lookin forward to getting the post hunt report from you when you got back. :-(
What about next year?
I believe that if you don't take the refund they restore your points to what they were before you drew, call and ask.

YD, you keep your points if you drew a second choice, otherwise you forfit them for a refund of your money. I believe you can keep the points if they keep your money AND return the tag.

As others have said, no excusse needed, just make sure its mailed before the season starts.

I returned a deer tag a couple weeks ago, took them about a week to get me a refund.
