Columbian Whitetail $36,000, new record price for Oregon

Saturday night in Redmond Oregon at the FNAWS banquet they sold a statewide deer tag for $36,000. This is a Oregon record! And I heard the guy bought it for an opprotunity at a Columbian Whittie. Bidders name was confidential, so GOOD LUCK and thanks for the generous bid.

Not this year, there are allowing hunting for them this fall.

what units? I heard that they were going to have a hunt for them but I thought it was going to be very limited and not for a couple of years yet. I wish that the WDFW would have a draw for a couple columbian whities. I know where some dandys are!

From what I understand, with this tag you can hunt all three species in any unit from sept.1-end of nov.

There is the opportunity to draw the tag, controlled 100 series hunt number 123 with 10 tags going out. The season is october 1 to october 12th. The statewide tag has a longer season like September through November so if this guy is wanted a columbian whitetail he probably will get his chance in the rut. I'm sure some very nice bucks will be taken on this hunt.
