Me and a friend put in for unit 158 not realizing that it was 100% private. After contacting several landowners and guides, we now realize that we won't be able to hunt this unit. Does anybody know of any other unit that has a high success draw for MULE DEER that has a lot of public land and holds trophy bucks? Not asking for much are we (ha,ha). Any information would be greatly appreciated.

We have done alot of research on this unit. Where do you suggest to hunt this unit? It seems as though you have alot of information.

contact wyoming fish and game buy blm maps find out the game wardens name they will all give you names of people who will let you hunt there is blm land in that area to hunt like he said do some homework!!!

Are you wondering for next year? Just curious since you already put in for 158, aren't you kind of stuck to that? I'd wait to see if you draw, then either start looking more seriously, or start looking for next year.

You just need top get some BLM maps and look up around the Naval Reserve. There's quite a bit of public ground. You'll need a GPS and some good boots as you'll be walking. The nice thing about that area is there are lots of oil wells which all show their township locations. You can also find fed/state sections that cross many of the county roads. A GPS will tell you where you are. And thanks to a past Albany County court decision, the G&F isn't ticketing corner jumpers anymore. You can wander all over that country if you're willing to work at it.
