I broke down this year and made arangements to purchase a landowner voucher for the 3rd season muley hunt. The problem is I need to decide between unit 62 or the combined unit 64/65.
If there is anybody outthere that could shed some info to help me decide on which tag to purchase, I would greatly appreciate it!

62 has never been under subscribed since the state went draw. If word has gotten out about the big bucks taken in that unit last year it will probably take 2 or 3 points this year to draw. Have to wait to see. I had 4 points and applied for 62 3rd season. With that being said I would definately get the 3rd season 62 tag. Good luck.

If I were to buy a voucher in either of the units I would make sure that I had private ground to hunt...There is a lot of public ground in each unit but there are tons of OTC elk hunters that make life hard..Most of the quality animals are on the private ground because there is less pressure. Also later in the year the animals move from the high country down to lower elevations, which is where most of the private ground lies...Unless you've got private land its going to be a three ring circus and your gonna spend most of your time pushing the cedar canyons to produce any results...

Both units mentioned are good units, however, as was already mentioned there is a ton of private ground. I would get a blm map and study it well so you know were the private sections are. If you are interested, I will probably have two vouchers that are far better than this area. email me @ [email protected] for more details.
