I really appreciated all of your feedback on a bull I wounded earlier this season. I spent three days combing that canyon and found nothing but a few dime-sized drops the first day and my arrow. I never saw a crow or buzzard within five miles of there and felt the bull must've made it.
I got up there for the last few days and though the rut hasn't officially blown up yet, they were bugling and new BIG bulls were rolling into the area every day.
We ended up calling just to locate bulls and then we cut them off between their bedding areas and were able to get right in the middle of them. It was really spot-and-stalk hunting which wasn't what I had expected but is very exciting.
Last morning this fuy rolled in and after seeing that 7 side I decided he was a more than I could've hoped for. 50 yds uphill and he took two steps and died. That Undertaker Broadhead cut a MASSIVE entry hole and passed through into his opposite shoulder. Many of you said the "shot placement" is more important than any other factor and I couldn't agree more. I was glad to see him expire so quickly.
When I got up to him I realized he was missing his G2s and his right side wasn't even on his left but he's a great first archery kill and I am more than greatfull.
My bro-in-law shot a nice 6x6 that evening at last light so we ended up 2 for 2! It was an incredibly 8 yard shot and I got it on video. Unforgettable trip!
The bull had a lot of character and mass.
My wife and kids were sick but my sister and niece and nephew hiked about a mile to see him down and loved him!
