I am a new resident of NV and want to hunt muleys next season. I would like to know some good areas to scout. Preferably not too far north of Highway 50. Any info would be appreciated.

Dirtyrut....you would have had to applied in April. They will have a list of leftover tags after the initial drawing, but they will obviously be less coveted tags. No over the counter hunts available. Hope this helps - Brian

Brian Thanks, I pretty much figured that I missed this year and was going to try for the 2006 season. I want to go scouting this summer and was looking for some areas to go.

I would check out NDOW's web page for their hunter info sheets. It also depends on the type of country you like to hunt as well as how often you'd like to draw a tag. Area 17 and 16 offer good hunting and you can probablly pull a tag every 3 years or so. Almost every year with a bow.

I would prefer east but I'll hunt any where as long as I do not have to go to far north of 50.

I assume unit 114 offers some good hunting?
I was also told by guys that have not hunted NV for a long time that hunting out of Austin was good, and further east, Lund was also good. Any inputs?

Thanks

Theres agroup called LV Woods and Waters a group of guys that hunt and fish and talk about. We meet at Big Dogs for lunch the second Wednesday of every month. Stop by, there are several guys that will help you out. We hunt everything and someone is sure to show you some good spots.

No the Big Dogs on west Sahara (between Rainbow and Jones). Upstairs is where we meet. Next meeting is Wednesday June 8th. Lunch is 12-15 dollars meet several like minded guys. I won't be attending this month as I am playing hooky to go fishing in Southern Utah that day.

Check out around the Arc Dome wilderness in units 171-173. The farther you are willing to pack in the better, although I have seen a few nice bucks lower, and everyone drives by where their hiding t to get to their favorite spot.

I also have friends who love the high mountains around Ely. I have never been there so I can't offer much more.
