Here is my first decent buck- after shooting a forky for my first buck, I decided the next tag's hunt would be for more than meat. Where we hunt is pack/walk-in only, so we packed staight up the mountain in 2 foot drifts. 7 hours later & exhausted, we set up camp (thank god for horses & spike tents). We had the whole mountain to ourselves; most folks stay away when the snow is so deep up there. This guy just happened to be wandering around 100 yards from camp opening morning, and I couldn't pass up the sight of him standing broadside. I'm very proud to say the first shot took him right through the heart, and he only went about 75 yards and piled up. It's a good thing I watched him- there was no blood trail to follow (internally he was hamburger). Thanks for letting me share him with all of you!(hope the picture works)

Welcome aboard here at MM and congrats to you on a nice buck. Which unit were you hunting in late season??

The picture came through just fine, by all means post more as you get them.

Thanks for all the nice comments, guys. Brian, he was taken in unit 021- we've been fortunate to hunt there 4 times in the last 5 years between my husband & I. To answer the other question- we didn't stay dry, but nothing beats a spike tent with a stove!!! The hard part was digging out wood from the drifts....... I will definately post more pics when I get something: I'm already checking my credit card for charges (pathetic, huh?)

NVpackrat...

The drawing in Fallon is on June 1. Maybe a week later we might be seeing some charges.

Good Luck!
