well where i went 5 branched bulls in a 1/4 mile 3 draws. 6x6 6x5 5x5 5x4 abd a spike. i missed a spike at first light dew to brain fart. had him broad side at 50 in the sage. forgot the safty. ya im a utard for sure. got back on hit as he was just entering the quakes. no blood anywhere. but i did get an elk i didnt shoot. not a good thing in my book other than i ended up with it. as i was hunting back out about 9 i came acrossed a dead cow. walked up to it thinking wow i just found somebodys elk. till i saw its head. cow. i was pissed it was still warm. i back tracked around alitle and found 2 casings. hunted the rest the way out while talking to my 12 yr old (his 1st hunt) about what we were gona have to do about that cow. call fg and and report it and maybee wait all day for a officer. got to the trail head warmed up the truck and 1 pulls up. nice. reported it and to her to it for investigation. she gave me the cow and a permit to have it. nice day. ken

Glad I stayed home. I would rather draw a cow tag and shoot one of those than a spike with 15k Utards wandering around.

wet? wet? no soaked and snowed on over the top of wet!!! 1 of the coldest elk hunts ever in my memory. stupid 40 mph gail. i forgot to mention they are rutting like nuts still! we had around 12 diffent bulls in the 2 draws going nuts. they even bugled after being shot at. ken

So if we don't draw a LE tag we ought to stay home? Explain to us common folk how the elite do it. Do you walk to your hunting spot from home? It must be tough finding your secret spot walking around with your nose in the air. It sure must be fun taking pot shots at the little guys. Maybe we could have the environmentalists take over hunting in Utah, sound good?

I don't know who advertised the specific basin I've hunted the last couple years (took a decent 6x bull last year), but it was GRAND CENTRAL FUGGIN STATION up there! I have never seen so many people out on the opener as I saw this year! What pissed me off more was there were GROUPS of folks and only one carrying a weapon. I had a guy with no gun, in his orange, walk out in the middle of a small park I was watching and sit down under a tree. He was 150 yards out is all - people have no respect. I am DISGUSTED at the UTARD actions I've seen this year. I'm going back to my former 16 year-long elk hunting grounds where I see very few folks and about the same number of animals!

Did anyone notice the cow elk thread in here with like 5 pumpkins in the background. I swear it was like that all day long opening weekend - even in the rain and snow!

One more dig! I love diversity and ethnicity, but WTF was going on this year I have no clue - invasion of a group of hunters that don't respect others and blast their fiesta music in a camp they put up right in the elk bedroom! AMAZING!!! I 'bout did a high altitude tune up on a radio!!

filled my pisscutter tag this mornin! Took a while but i finally convinced one to stand on the end of my barrel so i stood half a chance of killin it! there were 30 jealous tards on the mountain with me! they all stood at the truck and hoped one would come up and munch on the bug guard! seems like every year less and less tards venture off the road makes it harder for me to catch one by the road! wish i could find some less lazy company to push one out! ;-)

Woke up at 3:30 am Sat Oct 4th, ate a bowl of oatmeal and headed for my secret elk hunting spot. Arrived aroun 6:00 a.m. heard bulls going crazy everywhere and thought "it does not get any better than this". Then the people started "sneaking" in. I did not know there were that many idividuals whom were willing to hike 1.5 hours to a spot to hunt. Needless to say by the time the sun came up I was surrounded by people and was actually hoping no elk would step out as I would probaly be caught in WWIII. I was back to camp by 9:00 pissed as hell so I decided to head back to wyoming to hunt deer> I'm going to stay away from hoop lake next year.......

Good choice. Secret spot huh? Utah dont have secret spots. I feel for you ans I was as pissed as you also. General hunt in this state is the same every year and I know it. But for some reason I just keep buying tags and hoping for something better or different. Stupid me!!
