Finally! 5 years to draw and I have it. Started working out a month ago in preparation that I would get the tag and so far has paid off. Oh! This hunt is in Colorado area 36. I'm expecting the bucks to be above tree line and in bachelor groups. Hopefully still in velvet. I have an idea of what to expect when I go hunting but what do others believe I should know before I go. Where should I look for these bucks. Is there any places they like to hang out? I have a spotting scope/bino's and all the gear for the hunt. I have maps of the area and the CD from Colorado. Looking for information on things I should be aware off but haven't thought of. Any information would be appreciated. Kerry

Hey Kerry-
Congrats on the tag. My dad and I actually drew the same one as you! Should be a great hunt. From what I've been told, there will be about a 50/50 chance the bucks will still be in velvet during that week. I would just say - study the heck out of the maps if you can't make a scouting trip out here. Not much else to mention, besides it's high and steep. Last year right around that time I was archery hunting in a cold cold rain that changed over to snow for a day. So just be prepared for some rotten weather, but hopefully we'll have some better conditions on our hands.
Best of luck-
