Novel Antler Idea

LAST EDITED ON Dec-30-16 AT 05:32AM (MST)[p]I hit the big 7-0 this year and didn't draw any tags, and when that happens, I spend a lot of time hiking, collecting antlers, and taking pictures or video of deer in the rut. I'm pretty amateurish about antler hunting, but I have a lot of fun trying! And I hate to part with most of my better antlers, knowing they will end up being sold for crafts, dog chews, knife handles, etc. When my daughter asked if I could spare ONLY 4 of the nicer ones for a project she was doing, I did so reluctantly. I have one daughter and three sons...but didn't catch on to what she was doing, until she had me autograph the four antler plaques she had made, one for her and her siblings. She composed the short poem for the plaques. I thought it nice enough to share with other Antler Addicts or MM'ers.(Oh the "Forky Pete" is just another one of my handles!)

I think that is very special and unique. That was very sweet of her. You must be proud. I love finding antlers. Think I just like hiking the hills with no stress. Very relaxing. Thanks for sharing.

I love hiking hills with no stress also...until I look at my GPS and its 4 miles back to the pickup.....

Yeah Longun, been there too! Also twice when the GPS was left on truck seat! Luckily, both times a very bright moon helped me catch a glint of truck windshield so I didn't have to wander aimlessly 'til daylight! :)

That is an awesome idea and great gesture by your daughter!
