People will steal anything

Last summer I fell 4 Redwood trees below the house next to the road. They were about 60' tall and 12-15" diameter. I let them get out of hand, I know. I don't want any trees that will reach the house if they get blown down.

I left them lay to dry out for firewood, as my wood shed is full.

My wife and I left for a couple hours yesterday and by the time we got home, someone had cut them up and took them.

If they would have knocked on the door and asked, I would have helped them cut them up and load them. But oh no, much more fun to steal.

Was it a friend?

The lumber to rebuild Shelter Cove won't grow on trees.

We're cleaning out my moms old house to tear down and rebuild a new little house for her. The druggie neighbors went in and stole all the Rubbermaid tubs we had to pack up my moms stuff. They cleaned out the pantry too! Stealing food from a little old lady!? I could care less about the food, it was all going in the dumpster anyway, but there were about a dozen of those big tubs!
If you want to get rid of something, put it out on the road with a for sale sign on it, doesn't matter how much. Someone will steal it. If you put "free", it will sit there til it rots.

The real crime here is that obviously a white supremacist committed a series of hate crimes on old growth timber. Obviously an intolerant Trump voter too.

That was like a knife in the heart 1911. I already feel bad enough as it is.

I don't consider this theft but the people who took it might. Several years ago I had a fridge crap out. Thursday was heavy trash pickup. Wednesday evening I muscle it down to the corner since I wouldn't have time before leaving for work Thursday. I unhook the dolly and walk to the garage. I grab the big trashcan and haul it down the driveway to the corner. THE FRIDGE IS GONE! It didn't last two minutes on the street. I never heard tires screech or anything. Poof it was gone that quick. Glad my dolly wasn't still strapped to it.

I like to think someone took the wood over to their aging parents/grandparents who are enjoying a warm fire this morning.

Well shepherd - I had a propane BBQ grill rust out on me last summer. The burners totally rusted out, couldn't find replacements for them or anything, so we just got a new grill. I put the old one out on the curb with the trash, like Tristate did with his fridge, but I did put a note on it saying "FREE - Burners need to be replaced" - and sure enough it was gone the next day before the trash got hauled away.

I was pleased because I thought at least someone was going to put it to good use. But then, exactly a week later, the night before trash day, I pull up to the driveway and there is the grill. They brought it back!!!

I guess they couldn't find any burners for it either, so I just left it and they hauled it away with the trash the next day.

I thought that was a crime!

Must be the difference between Kali and Texas. Here I am, can't even give a broken grill away and Eel's trees are stolen right in front of him.

HOOK 'EM!

You've got more faith in humanity than I.

Just saw on the news an old nam veteran was evacuated from the oroville dam area. While gone thieves broke into their home and among many things stole his Purple Heart. Executions should be a regular televised event.

I had a few things taken from around my place when I first bought the property. Mostly worthless crap, but it still demanded recourse. I had an old handyman jack with a lousy spring that would not catch on the upstroke, and which therefore nearly busted my skull on more than one occasion. I learned to keep my head low and out of the way, but ultimately decided to part with it...sort of. I left it out for a few weeks before it disappeared and I expect that, by now, it has knocked some bastard's teeth clean out of his skull.
