The Kid Who Climbed Everest by Bear Grylls.
I will just say that my breath was taken away and it instills a picture finally of what I admire but would never want to endure. Amazing odyssey!

" Bear Grylls"?.....must be fiction

If you like Everest try "Into Thin Air" by Jon Krakauer followed by "The Climb: Tragic Ambitions on Everest" by Anatoli Boukreev

Everest is an interesting thing. I don't understand the draw of those to climb something that will bring you within an inch of your life if you do everything right. Seems like there are a lot of bucket list things to do without tempting fate.

200 landmark corpse seem to lay as warning which adds to the intrigue of the whole thing. Most impressive has to be the first expeditions which occurred with 100 years less tech and gear than we currently have.

You won't regret reading it. Although I would never have risked all I was spellbound by the book. 1996 attempt was a real tragedy and although it is a good read, it's like apples and oranges with Bear's book. His book did tell of a few losses and failed attempts but it was more about the triumph after giving all you have amid the fear, hostility if Everest's perils and making it back. It's his story .

Bear is a TV personality but before Everest he was in the British Special Air Services. They had to complete alot- but one thing that's very impressive was 50 miles with 50 lbs in a pack in 24 hours. Checkpoints were made and if you ate or drank you had to put rocks in the pack keeping it at 50 lbs !

How far in the journey did he get before he drank his own urine? A half mile?
