Taco Tuesday here at my house and after scouring the deep freezer I realized with horror that I had used up every last bit of elk and deer meat. With great sadness and a serious dent in my manhood, I went to the grocery store and ordered 1lb of ground BEEF at the butcher counter. Thank god fishing season is starting up.

My deepest condolences. I am very sorry to hear, it must be very traumatic. You and yours are in my thoughts. Luckily I can only imagine the anguish you are feeling as I have not had to endure such humiliation and suffering. Just your story is making me reconsider how many elk tags we should apply/buy this year. I hope you can get past this terrible time in your life and find elk and deer in your future.

I am down to about 12 packs of burger, a few packs of steaks and 0 roast from my 2 elk harvests last fall.

Granted, I give most of the roasts away to families with kids to feed.

i love my wild game meat and try to eat mainly that. but i enjoy a greasy, fatty, hormone packed beef steak every now and then.

We ate the last roast off my spike elk on Sunday. Still have some from our cow elk but not much better than a spike.

I like a good broiled or grilled ribeye, every now and then, but that is about the limits of beef for me. I don't care for the taste of anything else. We change up with a little pork and chicken, on occasion.
