This is a family site Bbop. :D

I had two thoughts after watching.

First, Michelangelo's (akaDW) machine has some issues, it throws the nuts with the squirrel so it get's rewarded, for its bad behavior. Next thing you know the squirrels will be salivating when they see the machine shows up.

Second. I thought, what a great way to teach kids to shoot trap!

DC

DC, you're always thinking about the kids. I like you! :D

Not sure I should confess this, but if you fall an old growth redwood tree, and you're in a position to observe, quite often when the tree is about a third of the way over, the flying squirrels living in the tree will bail out and sometimes sail clear across the canyon. It's pretty amazing to watch.

I think squirrels were meant to fly.

Sort of a vertical landing strip, kind of thing, Bean?

There you go, more evidence that connecting the brilliant minds of the world with the Internet can improve on even the most advance technologies. One man designs a squirrel launcher and a total stranger, from clear out in Colorado, sees it and added another component, so DW, it's your turn to design a deep fryer system, attached to Bean's landing strip!

Maybe just Punji sticks on the vertical landing strip, that would make them easier to count...I fight a constant battle with Wyoming ground squirrels and stored seed. I don't like them much.

Kind of like a collection board. Good idea! :)

We treat them a little different in my yard.

LAST EDITED ON Apr-14-17 AT 06:55PM (MST)[p]I've been pondering this system a bit, for the last two or three days.......

I'm feeding 4 or 5 cats, besides my own. Some feral, some not, but they have been a pain in the butt for a number of years.

I'm going to study these launcher systems a little more, find a good one, add a landing strip, a tin funnel gathering device, at the base of the land strip, that dumps into a plastic 5 gallon bucket, with a one way lid, that causes these fur balls to leave the funnel and enter the bucket. A short tin tunnel will leading to a cheap suit case........ After launch, I'll slip over to the Circle C, for a pick a six pack.

And you all know what to do with a suit case, a cat and a six pack of Bud Lite...........

You're all invited to offer any engineering advice.

Idahoron, how accuratge is that thing? Do you recomend it. I'd love to have something to plunk starlings, pigeons, and Eurasians.

Bean, have you looked into the Hatsan Air Guns, I've had a few neighbors say they are very accurate. Wish I had one for those noisy, crappy Eurasians!

DC

Not going there..........I know you wife reads these goofy posts. I have enough trouble around here already.

DC

DC, sorry, I can't give you any engineering advice, but you have my undying admiration and moral support.

I can shoot 1" groups with it to 50 yards with Crossman premier dome pellets. The Crossman pellets are not the best game bullet for chucks but they handle the squirrels with ease.
The Rifle is a Benjamin trail NP2 22 cal.
I have shot chucks out to 30 yards in the head and killed them.
I have shot pigeons out to 40 yards and with a breast of neck hit they are dead. With a side body wing hit they could fly off. The domed pellet rolls off the heavy wing feathers. I have picked up some ballistic tip pellets to test on side hits on pigeons.

In all I recommend the rifle 100%. The Crossman domed pellet is very accurate. Just clean the gun GOOD before you start to shoot and clean it about every 100 rounds.

Hey Idahoron - How is that model you have on noise? I have two cool neighbors and one not so cool neighbor.

Or I can build a catapult and shoot em in the not cool yard...that'll learn them.

This one has a silencer on it from the factory. Your dad sneezes louder than this rifle barks. It is super quiet.

I have a Crossman Quest in 22 cal. Scope came with it. I've killed many Ground Squirrels in the yard with it and a few closer to 45-50 yards. If hit, they are dead.

HOWEVER.... I must shoot from deep within the House out through a slightly opened window because it is very loud.

Coyotes have been hit by my Wife....she run's outside after them and cares nothing about noise or being seen. I believe most of her hits are GUT shots. One must have been a Heart shot because we saw it run from the back kitchen door area out into a field then flip in circles, dying right there.

If I hear the Chickens bauking, I use a CCI CB Short and lately, the newer CCI 22 Long's labeled as QUIET. I'm not interested in a flop dead shot. Its nicer to have them expire a few hundred yards out in a field.

Here is another "HOWEVER"... Look at http://daystate.com/ I have used these and they are the very best. I have two Anschutz each costing into our +$1000.00's and they are very good but NOT as good for Hunting as many found on/in the above site. Deiter Anschutz, a Friend, gave my Son one of their Target Guns.

But our England folks sure have learned how to do the most with a pre-charged Pellet Rifle. I use a SCUBA Tank to fill ours and its all very safe and easy. Folks here in USA never really get to see "A REAL PELLET RIFLE" so I suspect some of you may be surprised after reading about various models. Spending such $ is a personal matter. Truth be known, if such Pellet Rifles were at our fingertips, we would be using it a lot and, Year Round. Plus, when showing a friend such a gun, many will want to borrow it.

Jagerdad :)

Please, immediately, go to GOFUNDME. I very much need a DayState air rifle. My short term happiness will most certainly be long term.

I hear the pound and the dollar are nearly equal, so I only need about 1,500 of my MM fan base to donate a dolla.

2lumpy.... I would send you the $ but.... The gun would be confiscated by "The Herd of Cats".

You would enjoy "MORE" what is simple, Real + Everywhere. This MORE item is a big package of super enjoyments. It's a Paint Ball Semi Auto or Full-Auto and as you drive down; any Road USA.....hang it out the window and PLASTER-ROAD SIGNS with Paint.

"Those" in the Back seat's will be coming out of their skin. I can hear shouts & laughter's saying....More, More and here comes another Road Sign.

Back when I was poor(still am), I did the same but used a Box or Bag of Rocks chucking one at every Road Sign. Then just before each simple drive, the Young'ens made sure I had ammo. Family Fun at it's best. But such is my way's. Not Proper for everyone.

The GOFUNDME could become those whom fill your Sign Ammo Box. Least it's a TEAM game with, the best Team "Family".

Jagerdad :)

Dear 1911... You never read the above :) Wuz-N-Me.

Save that money Jag, I'd end up spending it on whiskey, loose women, and fast horses, the rest of it I'd just waste.

Never done the paint ball thing, Dad told me I couldn't have a real gun until I stop playing with toy guns. :D I heard they leave a welt, so I'd be a wimp about it anyway.

In my youth, in Canada, of course, where 1911 has no authority, we did the high speed, pop bottle/highway sign, game. That is, we did until a stubby Coca Cola bottle bounced off the big green spring board and came back through the vent window on a 54 Ford and hit me in the chest.

Oh, it's all fun and games, 'til someone puts an eye out. I had sun glass on, so........ of course........... we threw it again, after which we ordered a new vent window.

A DayState Renegade. I want one but I better not. I'm afraid Robins and Chestnut Backed Chickadees would be placed on the Endangered Species list. We don't need that.
