This guy lives there and started doing reports shortly after the spillway failure. I've been following his updates and it's been very educational. His day job is a captain on a Boeing 777. He flies to London mostly.

They're about to shut the spillway down for the summer to begin construction of the new lower half, which is supposed to be complete by November.

Thanks Eel!

That Original ReBar Job was a JOKE!

Maybe they'll get it Right this Time?

Once the potential for carnage is gone, the media, the public, and us MM'ers, turn to other potential disasters to watch....... with a new found fire hose of discourse.

No longer potential for death and mayhem, no longer a topic of interest.

Did I catch a whiff of sarcasm there, eel.

What time's the game start tonight? :D

I would suspect the current effort at the dam will be better than the last one. There's nothing like a near Noah encounter to motivate the keepers of the budget. For those down stream, I hope they get it right this time.

In reality, State and National infrastructure is a never ending budget grinder, we all want it and most often we need it. However, as we've grown in population, our need for more and more infrastructure is obvious, what isn't always so obvious, is the cost to keep it all safe and valuable, decades after it's built, because, what we build a year a time, over 50 years, accumulates until it's nearly fricking impossible to keep it all viable, every day, every year.

Gonna need a lot of laborers and concrete workers. Good thing they're getting this done now before Mexico builds Trumps wall.

NVB, it's too late for a wall. They're already here and Gov. Brown says they're staying. They already have more rights than citizens. Brown says truck fump. :)
