WWII Veterans are dying at the rate of about 1,000 a day. I heard that somewhere.

My Dad was in England before the invasion. He said the people in England were glad to see them ship out. I guess the complaint was "They're over paid, over sexed, and over here." He laughed about that a lot over the years.

Read This and while doing so, Imagine or rather, put yourself in the place of any single person in any general area. YOU Never had a choice years prior yet now, if a Man lucky enough to STILL have his Wife, let alone children...What do you say to those whom depend upon you...?

It's a Gut wrenching thought IF you are a person who is remotely emotional and can fathom being in such a position.

The above is now, a small page on a basic webpage + simply on Europe. We living are very lucky.

June 6th, Jagerdad

PS: Elk, no offense ever taken....(Except that you still have never sent me a reply to PM'z or a PM, Just Cuz. I'll give you a Double Titty Twister if I am ever one foot in front of You) :)

Do Not...Ever, Ever, Ever.... Ever Give "ME" ideas or, encourage me to use "MY" Imagination. Rommel has nothing on me and I was raised to enjoy, Very Hard Physical Contact. ( I will never go to sleep tonight with such fun thoughts towards Elk'ey )

The above is akin to trying to Out-Lie, 2lumpy or DW whilst sitting around a Campfire telling Stories and ewe sip on white lightning and they sip on Tea or diet coke and still, out-Lie You.

Homer, You Young Man are included in the above imagined, Campfire.

We have totally lost ourselves from the respect in the OP. My Bad.

Jagerdad..... Sitting at Home :-( plus zero Hunts to look forward to come fall.... except Elk Roast's :)... Sea, I Kaint Stop.

Your a thoughtful and carrying soul Jag. I have been thinking about those high seas and those cliffs our soldiers had to deal with, along with the machine gun fire they faced, all day long. I've read many books on the D-Day invasion. My favorite was "D - Day" by Stephen E. Ambrose.

In truth, most of my family, Uncles and older cousins that is, were already shot to sh!t and out of the action, as of the disastrous Battle with the German Army on August 19th, 1942, on the coast at Dieppe, France, where of the 6,086 men who made it ashore, 3,623 (almost 60%) were either killed, wounded or captured, 5,000 of which were Canadians. Not a lot of folks know or hear about the Dieppe Raid but us old time Canadians do, by ratio, it was a slaughter and a loosing effort by the allies.

As a result, I have two occasions each year to contemplate the tremendous commitment our forefathers made, on our behalf. May their eternal rewards be equal to their earthly sacrifice.

I was a WWII babe (born in 1946), and I read anything I could find about WWII, listened to my Dad's tales (he was WWII Navy, at Omaha Beach as a Gunner's mate 2c aboard the USS Arkansas). Long ago now, I remember reading about the Dieppe fiasco. Even in the horrors of defeat, the war planners learned stuff that would help when the Normandy Invasion came along. Breaching Fortress Europe at Normandy was the defining beginning of the end for the Nazi war machine.

Those are sobering statistics Jager. The affects of WWII is staggering.

I read awhile back that between June 6th, 1944 and the end of August 1944, 60,000 French civilians were killed, caught in the crossfire between the Allies and the German Army.
