Oil change

So....I've been to the doctor 4 times in the last week and a half for my back pain (an old "war" injury). It's time to change oil in my truck, and the thought of crawling under my Tacoma and reaching the oil filter....no. So I decided to take it to one of those places that specialize in oil changes. I'd never been to one before. What an experience.

I thought I'd have to wait in the waiting room for an hour.

I drove up and a guy directs me into the garage. I told him I need an oil change and I brought the oil I want used. 4 other guys show up.

They lift the hood and in about 3 minutes a guy comes up to the window with a sample of my radiator fluid, transmission fluid, power steering fluid, rear end, and transfer case fluid, and my EGR valve in hand. WTF? lmao

I told him no, they're fine.

Then another guy shows up and asks me if I want some fuel injector cleaner poured in my gas tank? Chevron brand, so I told him yes.

I was out of there in about 15 minutes. $56 later. And I brought my own oil.

I still don't know exactly what happened.

No air filter? They're slipping.

Actually they put your oil in their car to take home, washed your windshield and sent you on your way.

Oh and you still need to change your oil

LAST EDITED ON Jun-28-17 AT 07:15PM (MST)[p]Pop the hood and check for tools, good chance you can recoup some of that $56! And NVB is right, you still need an oil change! And don't expect to take that oil filter off by hand next time, have a filter wrench handy! And yer drain plug might be stripped! But it was only $56!

They didn't try peddling wiper blades, windshield crack repair, tire rotate, lug nut torque, blinker fluid, tire air replacement, windshield rain treatment or air freshener? Yep they'll probably be fired. And like others said, check under the hood for tools.

I did the same deal.Looked under the hood and found one of their tools.A glass mirror and a straw.Sold it for a buck.
Ended up getting my oil changed for $55.What a steal.

It's too bad they have to hustle poor unsuspecting old people.

RAS, we learned a new technique for Redtails. Fishing for them in the river. They chase bait fish (anchovies) that come in with the tide. We started casting white Rooster Tails, and they hammer them. We caught some huge perch up to 17" as fast as you can cast it out there. It's about a mile walk in but worth it (until you haul 10 out. lol)
