What would you fellers buy for demolition cars for kids. I have a 17 year old and 15 year old girl which will both be driving soon. Debating on what type of sacrificial lamb to get. The two boys are still a ways out from driving. Buying used cars has not been my lucky point in life.

I'd Buy them Both New 2017 FORD F-150'S With EcoBoosts!

Then Tell them!

Treat Them as You Wish!

But I'm Only Buying Your First Vehicle!

You're On Your Own after that!:D:D:D

Then They Can Work their Way Up to a CUPSY Approved Ride!:D

After all I learned in the automotive business, I bought Toyota Camrys for both of my kids.My son's is a 97 and my daughter's is a 99.Both have held up remarkably well.My brother has a 2000 that I found for him that is still truckin with over 200k on the clock. The only other used passenger car I can recommend is Honda.

Well, my daughter learned to drive in my 73 Super Beetle with a manual transmission.

After she crashed that on the very first day she got her license, I bought her a brand new Honda Civic with automatic, and repossessed my Beetle. I told her she was on her own after that.

Welcome to the world of gray hair 1911.

Turnin them Loose with their First Vehicle is where some of the Gray Comes From!:D

A column shift, 1949 Ford, install atleast 6, five point harness seat belts, upgraded your auto insurance, get AAA , buy a lower deductable medical policy, Throw in a Sat.Phone and weld on a tracking device, for good measure.

Been There, Done That......... five times, trust me.......you'll wish you had.

I was just about to offer my experience and thoughts but 2lumpy hit the Nail on the Head.

I have been at seemingly countless vehicle accidents and as the Auto Industry built lighter fuel efficient vehicles, the greater were the badly injured occupants.

Gas is costly but to me, my children were priceless. Therefore, I had them learn and drive for their first 3-4 years, as large of a vehicle as I owned.

Such were a 1978 Mercury Marquis and a 1987 Chevy 3/4 ton 4x4. I still have all of my Children. I did hear gripes that they were driving a Grandmothers car but, a Father never hears such cries of woe. Our area has many Hispanics and on 3 different dates, Hispanics did "Hit & Runs" on my Children. A 4th, on my wife (2 Hispanic Males) and she was in her Cadillac. I could add the Delta 88 with 5 Field Workers who hit me from behind at a Red Light and they tried to leave...but went directly to Jail.

Having my children in large "old steel" vehicles has paid back far more than the gas expense between 12 MPG vs 18+ MPG.

Jagerdad :)
