Shark Week

On Discovery Channel...makes me puke.

There's been quite a few shark attacks off the coast of central California, both surfers and kayakers.

So what do the "scientists" do? They decide to collect DNA from the sharks to see if the same sharks are doing the attacks.

So they go out in boats and chum up sharks and feed them so they can get DNA samples. They drag bait through the water inducing the shark to attack so they can get some good video and then reward the shark with a big bait fish.

All that does is train sharks to come over to kayaks, attack, and get a free meal. Brilliant.

Eel you have to accept the fact those animal loving enviro scientists love those sharks more then they do your human hide.
Get a limpet mine and attach to the hull of their boat and see if they love those sharks when they are in the water with them.

I got excited for shark week when I was 12.

The last couple of years have been the same thing...watching great whites burst out of the water with the fake seal in its mouth. Love it!! Haven't seen that yet this year but maybe they'll bring it back next year.

Race a shark? Why does that intrigue us? NO IDEA. Why do we need to know if Phelps is faster? He'll never survive a shark attack so what's the point of knowing who's faster?

The attacks on Surf Beach are pretty close to us here. That's a few miles from where we live. We knew Fran, one of the guys killed a few years ago. Sad deal when a surfer gets killed doing what they love. Waiting to see if there will be another attack this coming October. I'm sure their will be some stoned surfers out there testing fate.
