Strangest thing that's happened to you in the mountains

I was hunting in Nevada some years ago on an archery mule deer hunt. Myself and two friends were all hunting in 101-108 and were seeing quite a few big bucks.

I was walking down an road to a water hole to watch in the afternoon when I heard an god awful sound that sounded like some one screaming or bawling. I walked around some trees as I could hear a lot of breaking branches and walked into where a Mountain lion was chasing an mule deer doe. It was close to bringing her down as he was clawing at her hind legs when he saw me and stopped.

I heard another noise behind me and turned to face it as I thought there might be another mountain lion there.

I looked but couldn't see anything so I turned back around ad the doe was standing there but no mountain lion. He was gone and I couldn't see him anymore.

I was nervous all afternoon sitting in the blind I had made by the water hole. Every sound would make me look.

Probably not so strange to a lot of hunters, but for it to be during the black powder hunt, during the middle of the season:

I did not have a tag to hunt, but was heading into a spring one morning, hoping to find an elk to capture on camera or video. I rounded a bend and almost hit a doe (or so I thought) with its head in a bush. I honked, and was shocked to see that as it raised its head,it was a decent four-point buck! The deer was unfazed, and slowly ambled off the road. After I fumbled with my camera, I was more amazed that the critter just looked at me, and continued to feed as if I wasn't there. I spent about the next 10 minutes following the buck around, taking pictures and video from not more than 10 yds. away! I even yelled at the buck a few times so he would look at me so I could get a better picture! The buck never once reacted to me other than to pause momentarily, and continue to feed. I walked away after getting great video and pics. I later showed my video to a warden who remarked that the silly buck with no fear surely ended up in someone's freezer. It is among my most memorable of all my outdoor experiences!

My hunting partner and I were hiking to a glassing point early in the morning, well before daylight. As we stopped for a short break , a big dead tree fell down really close to us . It made a huge crash and was kinda spooky hearing it so close to us in pitch black darkness.

Ended up seeing some decent bucks later on too.
