Back Me Off to 1,700 Yards,650 is a Little Close & I'm Not Comfortable with it!

A GUT SHOT at 1,700 Yards will Still Make Some Good BRAGGIN Rights so I Can Say I At Least Hit Him!

On a code 3 run I hit a deer at about 60mph on a mountain road. My patrol unit was a Dodge Ram Charger 4X4 with a heavy push bumper.
The push bumper knocked the deer down and the patrol unit ran over it and pieces of the deer came flying out the back. Did not even stop and continued to the call of a burglary in progress. Turned out to be a false call. The burglar turned out to be the adult son of the home owners checking on his parents house while they were on a extended vacation.

Hope 1911 at least salvaged the liver, I hate it when a deer liver gets ruined. Tragic when that happens!

Years ago I used to work for DOT on a railroad test track. Our job was to simulate high speed runs between (I forget the cities; all on the east coast) cities.

This was all accomplished on a 40 mile test loop out in the prairie. My job was to monitor the electronics and determine efficiency of the overhead electrical power system.

Anyway, at times that train (an electric locomotive and 3 loaded cars) would reach speeds of 120+. Pretty much a rush to see the power lines go by at that speed as they looked like a solid wall.

Once a week or so we would hit an antelope, sometimes multiple strikes. The smell was just like a BBQ grill. And we had to clean it off.

Then, within 2 laps we would hit a coyote or two.
