I have a friend in Montana who is a Rancher. Montana prevents him from selling Elk Hunting tags to sportsmen but, while I was living on his Ranch, it was our job to get up out of Bed at 10pm, 12am, 2am, 4am, 6am as 2 Hr shifts on an ATV/Snowmobile in freezing Snow Blizzards to scare away Elk herds from the Hay ( Feed for the Cattle ).

The State refused to have a Program to reimburse $$$ the Rancher for the Cattle Feed the Elk ate. This friend was quite upset. Now let me do a replay..... each of us, as friends, did 2 hr shifts in the most frozen hell God could create. Our friend, simply said in his mind, to himself....just as anyone of most of you..... would feel bad for his friends doing so much and, for free. He knew each friend could get hurt or get Pneumonia and Frostbite.

He, a Nobel Man, was in a serious quandary. The Federal & State Government decision makers were never on his Ranch Helping in 2 hr shifts. For any Man, this is akin to Eels post about Freedom when Red, White & Blue Lights are behind you. Yes, you DO, "What is Honorable". This 3 words ( What is Honorable ) is a quote from Walter Hughes when my young Son met Walter by a B-17 & B-24 as Walter wore his WWII Uniform and spoke of Flying a Bombing Mission while German Flak exploded.

My own Mother made the Flak and the Luftwaffe Interceptors get there.

Any way, between a WWII Bomber Pilot and a Montana Rancher, Good Men do as they are Trained or Raised.

There shall always be friction some place.

Here on MM'eys Campfire, us old farts ( I dearly pray for younger folks to bark up ) may vent or Babble and not be Bashed. Bashing any guy, sitting around a Mountain top campfire may not be healthy. + Far from our etiquette learned in elementary school yard fist fights...not allowed in today's schools.

For those of you who learned to read the Last sentence and respond only to it ( Business schools ) you may have already missed the above message. "Far TOOOooo Long + Hard to actually read". There is no short cuts on a Mountain or in written communiques.

The WWII Bomber Pilot was scared to death, same as my friend a Rancher but...they did their tasks. Both lived through their Wars.

Jagerdad :)

Them elk feeding in my haystack would be getting tipped over and I'd tell the state of Montana to get their friggin critters off my property...they are tresspassing...here in Wyoming the Game and fish try their darned'est to help the ranchers out around here....

Hey Jager too bad your rancher buddy didnt know about fences. They work great to keep elk out. They might not of been around back then I suppose. He should try them, the elk never get in our hay now.

There are also programs where the fish and game will pay for said fences too!

It should have never happened. It is a California thing. I related a Montana time but the Gov writes the rules.
