Yea, I've got a list of stuff from the wife. Nevermind that.

I'm making/planning a workbench. 4X4s for legs, bolted etc. Its gonna be sturdy. No green wood.

The top....I wanna make the top out of parquet style hardwood. That is almost done.

But, I wanna put about a 1/4" or so of liquid plastic stuff on the top and that's where my issue is.

Any ideas on what kind of liquid plastic stuff to get?

Lowe?s has a clear coat product called ?Glaze Coat?. I have used it to pour 1/4? thick tops on several fish measuring boards. Works well if you follow directions. A small torch flame passed over glaze coat will pop air bubbles. Just keep flame moving so ya don't scorch it!!

LAST EDITED ON Jan-24-18 AT 03:01PM (MST)[p]would you dam the edges...then remove dam after cured and sand to bevel...or soften edges??

From what I have read, wax paper can be used as a dam.

In my case, it isn't an issue because I have recessed the surface to be covered.

Other folks have used it various dams and sanded out the other stuff.

that'll work great feddoc......better spend enough time leveling it good before you pour.....

Back in the day.....(cough).....when I was a licensed cabinet maker I did a lot of Redwood burl work. Tables, clocks, counter tops, etc. I used a product called EnviroTex. It's very similar to Glaze Coat.

feddoc, I never made a workbench for show....WTF? :D
