To Trust or not Trust?

I have formulated a few opinions based on 60+ years of observing the human condition.
I see two two polar opposites of personality types when confronted with trust issues.

One is what I will call the "Trusting". They are characterized by believing most every thing they are told whether from friends, family, strangers, or even the internet. They don't have to think for themselves and quite often are content. Because they blindly trust they get burned occasionally.

They other extreme are the "Non Trusters". They are characterized by believing almost nothing told to them from almost any source. They are suspicious of everything and everyone. They have a lot of keys on their rings. The ones I know don't appear to be very happy people.

Most of my acquaintances fall somewhere between the two extremes. The happiest ones seem to be those who are aware of their "Trust" position and are willing to adjust as life gives them more information. To me the most dangerous position is one where you only listen to or give value to opinions that are the same as your own.

There seems to be a lot of unhappy people in the world today.

I'm a trusting kinda guy most times, and if I think I read you right, will always give you a chance in almost any situation. If you screw me, tho, I will hunt you down and kill you! :)
