Five Loaded Assault Rifles Found Along Van Duzen River Bar, Sheriff?s Office Says

On March 13, 2018, at about 9:30 a.m., a Humboldt County Sheriff?s deputy was dispatched to Old State Hwy 36 in Alton for the report of found property.
The resident who found the property told the deputy that he was walking along the Van Duzen River Bar, south of Old State Highway 36, when he discovered two cases containing five illegal, loaded assault rifles, ammunition and several high-capacity magazines. Deputies collected the property and found that nearly all of the firearms were lacking a manufacturer?s serial number.
This case is still under investigation. Anyone with information for the Sheriff?s Office regarding this property or related criminal activity is encouraged to call the Humboldt County Sheriff?s Office at (707) 445-7251 or the Sheriff?s Office Crime Tip line at (707) 268-2539.

LAST EDITED ON Mar-13-18 AT 08:48PM (MST)[p]I imagine someone from the cartel is in trouble for not giving better directions to the stash or the guy that was supposed to pick it up slept in. If someone was trying to dump the "ghost serial number guns" because they got cold feet having them in their safe, you would think they would have taken the lowers off and thrown them in the river. The uppers and accessories to that stash was a pretty penny in itself. Would be very interesting to know the whole and real story.

Those scopes will have serial numbers on them. This could get interesting. There was s guy in redding a month or two ago that had his gun safe stole out of his house. They thought it was an inside job as much time and effort they put into it while he was on vacation. Maybe this is a link to that????

Goose or Blank or DeerHunter 53, tyme for yah to Chime in, if yah want 2. Easy fun topic, No Kerosene (REHL) involved.

Overton, what may be your thoughts on Eels Lack's...?

PS: Eel, Offer me Crab and I shall delete this Post. Rock Cod is just as well.

JD: There I was, enjoying a drink and minding my own business. How'd I get drug into this??? Besides, I couldn't even afford to feed those babies.

But they probably would have followed me home, instead of going to the PD.

When I first read the story I had a flashback. That's only about 300 yards from where they found a dead guy with three bullet wounds to the back of the head. They subsequently made an arrest and I spent 6 weeks on the jury in that case. Guilty as charged.

I'll stick to steelhead fishing only.

Eel if you remember right this is the place where they found the body a couple of years ago of that missing guy from Shelter Cove. There was a flyer posted on Deli door for the guy and they found him two weeks later there by the river.

All I know is that I don't deer hunt in those woods anymore, too risky.

Eel did you have your trusty electric bike with you for quick escapes?

I guess the 101 bridge over the Van Duzen is still a dumping ground.

DeerHunter53, I had my bike in the back. I stopped off and rode from Table Bluff to the South Jetty and back (about 8 miles round trip). With all the pot holes it's faster on a bike than driving. :)

Nice Eel that is what is great about those bikes they can go almost anywhere

And yes the bridge has been a dumping ground for Humboldt County for a long time. Probably because it goes straight out to the Ocean and beyond. Hard to find anything still intact with all the crabs out there.

Did you or have you got any Steelhead this year yet?

DeerHunter53, no steelhead hook ups yet this year. I went to Mad River a couple times.

They've recovered a couple bodies near the mouth of Eel River in the past couple weeks and one near Table Bluff the day before I was there. The Emerald Triangle is a crazy place.
